Don't get why its either 64GB or 256GB. The iPhone 8 seems like a nice upgrade though but at £799 for the plus...has this gone up? How much was the 6S plus?
Think i'll keep using my iPhone 6 for now though....£999 is just OTT even those the facial recognition technology is mighty impressive....the detail is amazing.

Do we know if it's Pentile or RGB subpixel layout in iPhone X?

The X feels very much like an early adopter product to me. What with Apple and Samsung unable to produce OLED screens in enough quantities, and not yet having figured out a way to implement the home and finger print scanner into the screen, this is a way to charge a huge amount for a device that's about 2-3 years early and not currently in a position to be built on a large enough scale to be sold as the mass market or main model. In other words they're still making money on something they otherwise would have had to hold back until 2018/19.

What have they done to the lock screen music player in IOS 11?

The large album artwork was so much better.

Well £1000 im not paying that for a phone. Iphone 8 same price for the 64gb version as the 7s 128gb. But what annoys me is the £1-$1 prices!

Anyone going to America?

If you think the UK pricing is unfair, it's even worse in Europe.

In comparison the PS4 Pro Destiny bundle I recently bought was priced to the $ in terms of exchange rate (not factoring in tax).

But it's hard to complain when 11% of the marketplace are happy to buy it, which is clearly enough for Apple. Though saying that they are probably going to slip into 3rd place soon.

When you think you could buy a PS4 Pro, an Xbox One X, a Nintendo Switch and a cheap laptop for the same price as the top end iPhone...it's surely madness.

Having used the current phone for a long time Ive grown attached to the speed of the fingerprint sensor. How does this new one cope unlocking when Im driving or walking or running, though?

Still, Im on a refresh deal anyway so we'll see what the price comes out at.

Techradar's initial impressions on that:

Techradar wrote:The demo we were shown was a little worrying, though. In the demo on stage the first phone failed, and when it was shown to us the person linked to the phone kept having to to turn the display off and on again to activate the system.

When held at the right distance, it worked well and quickly, but we saw plenty of missed unlocks in our time with the phone. Apparently it'll learn your face as time goes on, but this is something we really need to test out to make sure it's easy to get into your phone.

Think this could pan out exactly like the Touch ID. The first generation of it on my 5s was flakey as hell, only worked about 70% of the time and was slow as hell. I turned it off eventually. When I got the 6 with the second generation Touch ID chip the difference was night and day. It was pretty obvious that Apple should have held fire until it was up to the standard they nailed in the 2nd generation. Early adopters eh, mugs game really.

Face unlocking has been around for ages and it has always been utter gooseberry fool.

I'm still using an iphone 5. Every year since 2014 I've been eager to upgrade, but they never seemed to be a significant leap forward. This is definitely a leap forward, but it just doesn't seem worth the price. The screen is great, but they made such a big fuss over face ID over of the fingerprint scanner, and it just seems like a different way of doing the same thing the old phones do. I don't know if I'd go for an 8 either as I tend to keep my phones for quite a while, and think a year from now, everything is going to be bezel-free and it's going to look pretty dated. Definitely going to keep an eye on the impressions over the next month before deciding.

I think these revisions will appeal to 5 and 6 owners but 6s and 7 owners will hold fire. I've always upgraded as close to day one as possible but nothing here appeals to me. I was expecting far more from the anniversary edition. I don't know what in all honesty but it just seemed a damp squib...most of the presentation seemed to be pimping those damned animated emojis. I'll keep my 7 for another year.

I'm positive they'll converge the 2 when they figure out how to include the finger print scanner in the screen, either physically or via software. They obviously don't fancy puting it on the side or back of the device. Or maybe this is a gradual way to placate law enforcement.

They could hardly stand up there though and say 'we've scrapped the finger print scanner because we can't do it'

Buried away in the specs is also the fact the wireless charging only works on 1 format (there are 2, of which Samsung supports both), though I'm guessing most shops and spaces would adopt both formats.

Does this wireless charging work with a case though?

There were rumours for months that they were trying to put the scanner under the screen using acoustics rather than an optical scanner so it would work anywhere on the screen without a dedicated home button but they couldn’t manage it properly for whatever reason. Hope they get it sorted for the next revision because the complete lack of Touch ID would put me off the X if I was considering one.
