No way I'm paying that. Will rather get the iPhone 8 instead

Is this the first time the majority of Apple fanboys have said 'strawberry float this' to pricing? Normally I'd expect.a flood of people saying they've pre-ordered but all the chat I'm hearing is how disgustingly expensive it is.

I don't think this place is a reliable gauge of public perception, but I would buy one outright instead of getting one on contract.

I don't like to think of myself as a 'fanboy', but i have a lot of Apple stuff and I have always found it to be excellent and capable of doing a lot of stuff that other brands/OS's either can't do or do as simply (I know that simplistic isn't for everyone!). I've had Blackberry's and Android phones over the years, and I have a Windows PC alongside my Apple stuff.

The price is a big deal, but it's not the biggest factor for me; it's more that the phone just...well, I don't really like the looks of it! I don't really like the Face ID stuff, I don't like the daft 'notch' at the top of the screen, the bezel still looks kind of, well, noticeable around the edges. Added to that, and I've never minded paying the Apple premium, but when you can get, say, the Galaxy S8 (as I have ordered the other day) for literally half the price, and it looks a lot better and does pretty much everything the iPhone X offers....

I don't know. It just doesn't seem that good or look that good in a way that, in my opinion, prior iterations have done. I've no idea if my thoughts are common, or even if I won't be backpeddling in a few months on all this, but as a long-time Apple customer this just doesn't seem worth it.

Hey, maybe it never was?!

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the design of the X at all yet.

the notch sticks out like a sore thumb
bezels look thick
glass back
stainless steel sides (it just looks too shiny because of this and the above)
no Touch ID (fair enough if Face ID works as good as that but I'd need to try it myself)

And there's the fact you'll have to wait on devs updating their apps for the new screen size. When the 5 and 6 came out some of the apps I use a lot weren't updated for months (some over a year) with proper support for the larger screens.

I still think the 7 and 7 Plus are the best looking phones they've ever done, the matte black just looks sooo good.

iPhone X looks ok. It's gonna have its issues but will still probably be a lovely device.

Paying £999 for a smartphone is just telling Apple that you're ok with that, though. Who knows, if enough people give it a miss they might rethink the next one. But I doubt it. Too many people who just buy regardless.

I've seen a lot of the add supported websites and advertising companies complaining that the new safari feature to limit ad tracking removes choice from consumers. Sure, removes choice. That's what we want. Not less privacy invasion, but choice.

Anyone going to try and preorder an iPhone X to sell on for profit on eBay?
I'm sure they will be very sought after on the international market could make a tidy profit

Just to sell this at cost price, eBay are going to nabble £100 out of you and it's going to cost about 20 quid to post it.

Factor in PayPal fees and it'll have to sell for about £1150 just to break even.

Forget it.

The US price is $200 below the UK price once you include the US sales tax. Adding in the eBay, PayPal and postage fees KK mentioned then you'd need the X to be rarer than rocking horse gooseberry fool in order to turn a decent profit.

If you're buying the X you really are better off booking a weekend in New York. Yeah it would cost you more once all is said and done, but still better value than the piss take pricing Apple are charging throughout Europe.

£1 is currently $1.36 too, though who knows how long that'll last.

Saw a tweet the other day breaking down the pricing that buying one in the UK is around the same price of flying to New York for the weekend staying in an Air BnB and buying one there.

Would you not get strawberry floated for import duty though as you came back?

Just updated my iPad software to iOS v11. Ten minute viewpoint:

+ I like the new dock
+ The virtual keyboard is cool (drag-down symbols :toot: ...although some symbols have been moved :x )
- Original settings have not all been carried over (I had Bluetooth off but it was turned back on)
- What is up with the screen brightness? It seems to be auto adjusting which I had turned off before... and there now doesn’t seem to be an option to turn if off again?

CONFIRMED: The auto screen brightness is so annoying :x . I can’t see a way of turning it off...
