I'm more shallow in that I just think they look really tacky. I like proper watches and will never wear a smart watch.

No matter how good it is I don't want a watch I have to charge every few days.

Yep my thoughts as well.

If it's like the fitbit it should charge pretty quickly. But yeah I don't really see the point of most of it, I can see the point of the sports tracker stuff, but there are much cheaper devices that do that already.

I think my problem with the whole idea is that i don't want to be notified of every email, text and other stuff going on on my phone. It just feels even more invasive to me as i think there is enough data, information etc being rammed into peoples faces. I love my tech though and lots of it i just don't think i want it on my wrist as well. Then on top of it all i really think they should have figured out how to make the battery last at least a week with no charge.

The guy I work with who has one also has a client on his phone so he gets all of his work emails wherever he is. He complains about it all the time. Its completely optional and I dont (and wont ever) use it.

I dont understand why people feel the need to be always connected. I like going off the grid. I dont have a Facebook and even people who have my phone number would agree that I can be difficult to reach at the best of times, strawberry float having work people emailing me on my watch.

It's amazing how many people now have been suckered into basically being on call 24/7 without being paid extra and think that if they're out of contact with work for any length of time they're liable for the sack or will be mocked for not working hard enough.

Screw that when I'm not at work I'm not at work so don't contact me unless the place is on fire and even then only to tell me not to bother turning up the next day.

The good news is the battery life is so gooseberry fool that it would barely last through the work day, let alone when you are at home.

My wife charges hers over night while in bed and wears it all the rest of the time and I don't think it's ever run out of battery.

Obviously, it might not be ideal to have to charge your watch every day, but it's not as if the battery makes it unusable.

I think this is quite an easy trap to fall into. When I first got a BB back in 2010, being able to get my work e-mails instantly was a novelty and I would be replying to e-mails all day round. Even when I went on leave I'd have it with me and would probably spends a few hours per day checking and replying to e-mails.

One day though I just decided that "enough is enough" and started turning the phone off when I finished work for the day and although I take a phone with me when on leave, roaming is always switched off so people can just call or text me in an emergency. I used to think BB and the like was brilliant, now I just consider work e-mails on your phone the work of the devil.

Unfortunately quite a few people can't get out of the trap - they will be sending and receiving e-mails almost 24 hours per day and because they do, it becomes peer pressure for everyone to do it, which is very unfair.

Yes?

I barely bother replying to emails when I am in work, they have no strawberry floating chance of me doing it when I leave for the day.

Yeah i have suckers like this in my work place who use the work phone as their main phone. I use to do incident management work and now problem management but i have always stuck to having my own phone and a work phone and when i'm not working the phone is off.

I think over the years of doing this type of work including doing IT 1st and 2nd line work a while ago it's near enough put me off answering and making phone calls. I completely ignore the home phone as well and just let my wife answer it.

You need a new phone, lack of Bluetooth 4.0 holds you back.

I don't think I've ever used Bluetooth for anything since about 2007.

Same. Sure, there's plenty of reasons to upgrade a iphone 4, but why H chose bluetooth is beyond me.

It's the Bluetooth it uses to connect to Watch. I assume that's what he was referring to.

I got one of these for the wife, she really likes it. It's a really slick piece of kit.

I use a Pebble Time, which isn't as nice a device in terms of build, but is much more practical with better batter life and an e-ink display.

I've got one of these too. I prefer that it's inconspicuous enough to just look like a cheap sports watch, to be honest.

Ive had my Pebble Time for 2 weeks and noone seems to have noticed that its a smart watch, even when I check a text or something on it, they just assume Im checking the time or something. Ive also charged it 3 times since I got it so 4-5 days on a charge, not too bad at all. Its very handy when driving or walking to be able to glance at what a text says or see whos calling you, I know its not a major chore to take a phone out of a pocket but anything that introduces more convenience is ok by me.
