If they do that in July I'll be delighted, bit early for Lies though

Yup, not going down well at all. I love Everything Now and Creature Comfort but was left cold on Signs of Life. We'll see.

It's on spotify now - it's pretty gooseberry fool. Easily their worst album but as I said in CLT, they've had 3 stunning albums and one very good one so they were due a dodgy one.

It's not even remotely the disaster a lot of people are claiming it is. Most of the reviews are coming in around 3/4 stars.

I like it. There's a few top tier songs on there and some weird experimental stuff I appreciate. It's the worst in their catalogue but that isn't really much of a problem when the rest of it is so good. It does feel a bit insubstantial because of how much shorter it is than The Suburbs or Reflektor. I do hope for the next one they move away from the electric disco approach as while I like it, they've wrung just about everything out of it they can.

I think there are only about 5 songs that I like on this album. The rest....Meh! Disappointing, but those 5 songs...REALLY GOOD!

Some of the lyrics are just appalling on this as well compared to older albums - what the strawberry float is "Infinite content...infinitely content" all about. Pretty sure Win Butler is just reciting the days of the week at one point as well.

Haven't listened to the album yet but haven't been too impressed with the singles. 100% agreed on some of the lyrics being bad, Creature Comfort is just right on the nose.

However I did see them at Manchester last month and I enjoyed the new songs live, just can't see myself choosing to listen to them too often over their other material.

I completely disagree about Creature Comfort, the bluntness of the lyrics are what gives the song its power. The no holds barred look into some pretty grim themes really resonated with me.

The only song I take issue with is Chemistry which is just too repetitive from a lyrical perspective. I like the instrumental though so it's easy enough to coast through.

Creature Comfort, Electric Blue, Put Your Money on Me, and We Don't Deserve Love are up there with the best for me.

Didn't grab me on first listen, but I'll give it a few more goes. Reflektor was a grower as well.

Really? I honestly can't even put them on the same level as Neon Bible stuff, which was the worst for me previously, or the poorer songs from Reflektor(Suburbs and Funeral are sublime and I won't hear a bad word about them).

My mate put it best earlier when he said that it feels like they've taken everything that was good about Reflektor, got rid of it, and left only the weird/rubbish bits.

Listened to it a few times yesterday, I certainly like it a lot but it isn't close to their best. I'd probably rank it over Reflektor and on-par with Neon Bible. Problem for me is Everything Now is far and away the best song, and we heard that ages ago. Really like Creature Comfort (I agree the bluntless of the lyrics work) Electric Blue, Put Your Money on Me and We Don't Deserve Love too

Good man. There's other good tracks, I just like those in particular. I get what they're going for with Infinite Content, but the Infinite Content lyric is too trite. I do like the idea of two different versions back to back though. Peter Pan does nothing for me and Chemistry I'm not so sure of. Whether it samples I Love Rock n Roll or just rips it off, that part of the song doesn't really work

Signs of Life is probably the worst thing they have done.

I really liked Reflektor as an album and always surprised to hear the bad press it gets. Sure it's different but that's what made it standout. This feels like a band trying to replicate that sound and failing miserably.
