I've currently got my PC and PS4 connected to my PC monitor. For sound (when not using my headphones) I have a cheap pair of Trust speakers that connect to the 3.5mm out of the monitor. However, they are powered by USB, which means that I have to have my PC on when I'm playing my PS4

I thought the problem would be solved as I got a JBL soundbar off my friend who emigrated but I've just plugged it in and the PSU bricked :fp:

I don't need fancy speakers, I just want some nice compact ones with a mains plug. However all of the cheap ones seem to be USB powered and not mains powered. I did try a USB mains charger for the Trust speakers but it just buzzed constantly.

Any thoughts or ideas? The current winning idea for me is moving my Echo with aux output upstairs and replacing it with an Echo Pop.

I guess it depends what you define as expensive.

£10 - https://www.ebuyer.com/539941-xenta-303 ... atoo303eby
£13 - https://www.ebuyer.com/665216-xenta-2-1 ... ecb113-yv0
£34 - https://www.ebuyer.com/658983-logitech- ... 980-000812

I guess you get what you pay for, so the cheaper ones might not be brilliant, although the reviews seem decent.

Does your PC monitor have a USB slot? (Sorry if obvious - just in case it’s something you’d overlooked.)

Fair question! It doesn't though unfortunately.

Those Logitech ones look spot on to be honest. All the ones on Amazon under fifty quid seemed to be USB powered. Ta!

Hang on, the PS4 has USB slots. Can't you use one of those?

Yeah but then I'd have to have the PS4 on to hear my PC!

They are surprisingly expensive. There was also a significant spark and my upstairs plugs tripped. Considering I don't know it's a problem with the PSU and not the speaker I just don't trust it anymore to be honest.

Bought the Logi speakers and they're doing great :)
