I ask this, as I have not been able to get into an RPG after playing WoW, and I like the sound of Infinite Undiscovery (well not the name, but the look) However I know it will seem somewhat shallow, and lack the interaction that you have in an MMO. Its what made me reactivate my account last time I quit as no RPG just seemed to cut it anymore.

The thing is that joins RTS games on my no no list, RTS used to be one of my favourites, until a day of playing a group of friends turned it all around. A lot of double crossing and ganging up caused the genre to be "officially banned" by the group. Mainly because the game had taken all day, and in the end it was all won by some bare faced lying by one of my friends. I have tried a couple of RTS games since but never really enjoyed any that much.

So has anyone else fallen out of love with a Genre?

Surely Couch Diplomacy of this kind is part of what makes multiplayer gaming worthwhile?

I have many a similar tale from my friends regular sessions of No Mercy.

Fighting and racing games.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Anything with the prefix "Wii". I understand that isn't strictly a 'genre', except that it's a form of casual gaming i will never understand. I enjoy other casual games, but Wii play, Wii Sports, none of them ignite any kind of enjoyment within me

Hmm, I have to agree with thise one to a greater or lesser extent. It's not that I don't enjoy FPS's anymore. I just don't need another one on top of the ones I have.

Sandbox games. I'm realising I don't like them. Tons of space with little to do and the world is usually not to interesting.

What did you think of Crackdown, out of interest?

I find that also. Best i've encountered is probably Crackdown on Co-op, was pretty boring without a friend though.

It was fun in co-op but on my own I didn't see much point, I like focus in games.

Hmm, I ask because I thought the use of space in the level designs was quite clever. It was an open world game with game leanings. Mario Bros with a real world enviroment, if you will. Though obviously it's not a perfect comparison, since real world archicture results in an awful lot of repeated jumps to get anyplace.

I think the massive building, i forget the name, in the central island was very very well designed. It looked pretty insurmountable initially, at least to me, but it was a lot of fun discovering little routes which would gain you a little height, until you reached the top.

Honestly I cant remember the fall out to it, it was quite a while ago. I do still find it funny, but none of us has ever really played a RTS since.

JRPGs. I cant stand them. They haven't improved since........ I dont know, the 14th century?

I tried to get into ff8 and 10. Forced myself to play them for a bit, but I just didnt enjoy them. The games dont seem to have changed much since those other than visually.

I dont think theres been a decent console rpg since the N64 Zelda games actually. Wind Waker was good but it was lacking something. You could definately pick up on the fact something was rushed. The dungeons didn't seem as clever as Ocarina or MM. Twighlight Princess was the same. The world looked amazing but it was just lacking the character of the N64 games.

Newer FPSs are leaving me pretty cold at the moment. Maybe it's the recent trend of moving away from action-hero blowing-shit-up, balls-to-to-wall fun to more story driven, emotional drivel, but I just don't seem to be having half as much fun as I used to.

I dont think any genre's that I like are dead to me. I still love all the genres I have always loved, so none have died. I dont like Fighting or Racing.

JRPG's.

Used to be my genre of choice SNES/PS1/PS2-era but I think they're dead to me now. Complete lack of progression.
