Gouverneur wrote:
Morgan Freeman… by the power vested in me, I hereby sentence you to execution by guillotine.”

Morgan noticed for the first time the scale of the terrifying Guillotine Diamant. He put up nothing of a fight as he was dragged to his final destination by Jodie and Hugo. He realised there was no one else around to witness his imminent death.

What great tragedy had unfolded over the last ten days. What enormous grief he felt, not only for himself, but for the interminable cruelty and self-destruction of humans.

Had he not been tied down, it wouldn’t have mattered. Morgan accepted his fate, taking one last breath as the great blade fell.

Hugo Weaving felt the familiar ambivalence of triumphant horror as he watched Morgan’s head fall into the humble weave basket.

Morgan’s blood beat a hasty retreat from his now-open neck.

Hugo looked up to speak to Jodie, but she was no longer standing by the Guillotine Diamant. Hugo felt the pressure at his back and the whisper in his ear before he understood what the words meant:

“Liberté, égalité, fraternité.”

Hugo’s carotid arteries opened up, painting the ground red as Hugo collapsed down to it.

Jodie Comer, the last surviving Freedom Fighter of the National Convention, wiped her blade and stepped over Hugo’s dying body – the next step towards the Revolution and the final one of this chapter.

The end

Congratulations to the Freedom Fighters of the National Convention and to aayl1, the only surviving player!

Commiserations to everyone else, with a special mention to StayDead, who put up the fight of his life!

All players may now post again in this thread.

Staydead I am so so sorry - I felt extremely bad having to be as manipulative and devious as I was to get you to trust me at the end. You played a really great game and just got unlucky at the end there.

This is all Morgan's fault. Morgan whoever it is should've been more active and helpful in the thread. I literally spent ages yesterday reading every single post and I thought at that point there's no way it could be you.

At least this doesn't hurt as bad as the time you poisoned me on day 1 when I was a seer just to kill me.

Several Citizens are weeping. No one dares move or do anything else other than to hold Anya Taylor Joy in place, ready to meet her demise.

Edit - *except to say RIP

The edit makes this easily my favourite post of this game ngl

Jodie. Let's strawberry floating do this.

 Honestly this is a really wholesome post.

Enjoyed lurking and keeping an eye on this. Good work ObBob.

Face palm me all you want, but how the hell am I meant to take the word of someone who's made 20 posts, none of which particularly helpful over that of someone who's entire post history in the thread was helping the town. This was literally impossible to win because Morgan was so inactive. :capnscotty:

Well thanks so much for such a great game Ob Bob. That was very stressful at the end there, but I'm glad my first ever win is a memorable one. Credit to Staydead for playing a great game and just getting unlucky at the end.

What was quite tough was yesterday I needed Qikz to lynch the jacobin otherwise I would lose. I wasn't 100% sure who it was between Maggie and Morgan but I was fairly sure it was Morgan. Obviously as the villager I was pretending to be it shouldn't matter to me who he picked, but I was desperately trying to encourage a Morgan guillotine without being obvious.

That being said, I'd like to run for executioner tonight with the 3 of you and 2 others to go in the thingy. Your innocence can be proved pretty quickly that way. Or not.

And then they killed me.

Well played everyone. Not sure how you can come back from a blow like this SD. This was your day. :dread:

Cracking game OB, possibly the best yet.

Wow! What a game and what a play by Jodie.

Hugo, you can keep your head held high. I think any citizen would have made the same call as you on the final day and you did exceptionally well, especially in the final days.

Congrats to the National Convention on their win!
