How some people who think what amounts to the worst Nintendo franchise is the 'finest videogame series' is beyond me, its not even close.

Anyway, I'm quite proud not to have ever completed any of them (I own 11 of them).

It's got nothing to do with the PC. I just personally find the Zelda games to be dull rpg/adventure games. I much prefer games like Mass Effect 1&2, Dragon Age, The Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Fallout series, Darksiders, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami...
Except for The Witcher all of these are available on console.

Only Darksiders and Okami are in the same genre as Zelda :fp:

1. Only Darksiders and Okami are copies of Zelda.
2. Since when did genre have anything to do with preferring one game over another.

I don't think not having completed a single game in any series is something to be particularly proud of, especially when one has as many as 11 different games.

Zelda is an RPG adventure game. I listed better RPG games and adventure games. But if you like, I enjoyed Okami and Darksiders more.

I keep thinking that they must have some redeeming features. Unfortunately they are all more or less the same and after a few hours all extremely repetitive and boring.

I think Wind Waker was probably the one I managed the most time with, but even its amazing graphics could only stave off the boredom so long.

Because it's like criticizing the bow-shooting mechanics in a Zelda game because they aren't as good as in an FPS. Or that a racing mini-game in Mario Party has weaker racing mechanics than Forza. What does it bring to the discussion, really?

Zelda is not an RPG in the traditional sense, and comparing it to Fallout therefore makes absolutely no sense. You might as well compare Animal Crossing to Oblivion.

Except its not like that at all is it.

Its like saying I don't like online FPS games (because they are too twitchy and motor skill based), I prefer the tactical combat of an RTS game (which requires more thinking). Nothing wrong with that.

Although thats not what he was doing. As he pointed out Zelda shares a basic adventure component with the RPGs he mentioned.

I still listed adventure games that I liked better, yet fail to see the connection to the snarky PC comment.

The thing you have to remember about Zelda, is basically that it was offering a Fallout type experience decades before Fallout was even a twinkle in Interplay's eye. If some of the mechanics aren't as deep as later RPG's, it makes up a good deal of the difference in accessibility, and relative lack of bugs.

Exactly. It's like saying that Fallout 3 is a dull RPG because I enjoy CoD MW more because I like the in that game gunplay better.

Also, I disagree that Okami or Darksiders are better than any of the 64/GC Zeldas. In my opinion, Okami is too repetitive, and Darksiders is somehow too formulaic. I suppose Okami was bound to feel repetitive seeing as how bloody long it was.

They're both better than Twilight Princess, but that's because Nintendo made a mistake I don't think they will ever make with the series again.

As for the "snarky PC comment", that was given because you had posted a typically elitist attitude commonly associated with "PC gamers", where being complex almost for the sake of it is often thought of as superior game design. An attitude I very much dislike.

Get a strawberry floating grip! One thing you should understand about me before you make any comments about me is that I love games. All types of games. I own all the consoles this gen and most of the previous generations, a PC and a Jamma arcade cabinet. If I ever state that a game is superior on the PC, then it will be in reference to graphics, controls (mouse & keyboards for FPS games), performance and mods. That's it. I have never stated the superiority of the PC Becuse it can offer more complex game mechanics than that of a console.

Repetitive boss battles aside, I didn't think Okami was too long. It was like four wonderful stories that all joined together in the end.

God, I love that game so much, I own it on two consoles :fp:

0 Points. I only play good games.

I nearly finished the Wind Waker I think. I got to the point where you have to fish triangles out of the sea, that was just dull and tedious and I never went back to it again.

I should really finish Okami, the godawful combat constantly put me off though and I got to a not so good part of the world and stopped.

53, I've played most of the Zelda games except the older ones before my time and obscure multiplayer titles.
