Thanks, Dragon - I'll take a look tonight. I haven't loaded it up for ages and I can't remember what I have unlocked. I'll check it out.

There is a way to quickly unlock everything, I think you just use any new tile set you get, then use as many of the new items you get randomly and the fill the level with blocks. I may be wrong, but I'm sure it was a thing back when it came out.

Jawa! Good man. Glad to see you jumping in and taking part. It's good fun.

And HSH28, good to have you back man.

Hopefully Minty, Lime, and Rax will pop up again as well as some more new blood.

This is true.

Everytime you unlock something, use at least one of everything that has an ! on it. Then just spam the level with as many blocks as you can. It'll trigger the next delivery. Should be able to unlock everything within an hour that way I think.

And yes I would recommend having as much unlocked as possible from the start. Make sure and experiment a bit as well. Shake items to see if there's any other types of them, use mushrooms on everything, tap any amiibos that you have to unlock as many mystery mushrooms as possible and so on.

Also, while I'm here, were there any level guidelines you guys didn't like? I don't mean specific "No Checkpoint" type things, just overall weeks that weren't fun or interesting?

Thanks for the invite, but sadly I don't have access to my Wii U at the moment - it's in a room being used by a lodger...and I have nowhere else to put it!

Shame, I would love to take part.

My levels are more like traditional Mario levels, with no gimmicks etc - just pure platforming fun!

That sucks man. You could always just throw the lodger out. Mario Maker is srs business after all.

All you need is some space for the console and a couple of plugs for the console and GamePad. I found it much easier to design all of my levels on the GamePad than to use the TV.

Actually, that's good point! I forgot that you don't actually need a TV for the Wii U.... :fp:

Ha ha ha...the Wii U's biggest selling point, and I completely forget about it!

In that case...count me in...if I get time!

Dragon saves the day :toot: .

I've only ever used the Gamepad when playing Mario Maker!

AXL is in.

And yeah, don't worry too much about time. You'll only need to submit a level every two weeks, and because it's points based you can miss one or two and not be out.

I may have sent out PM's to potential interested parties. Still plenty of time to go.

My plan is to close sign ups on Saturday. I'll then draw the groups and start planning the first guidelines for both teams.

We'll probably start it off fairly simple again to ease back into the game, but it'll only ramp up as time goes on.

Might as well count me in. I just get so attached and anal about what I make that I get really down if it doesn't go well. Bloody perfectionist nature.

I fear the well might be dry.

[bump]

So far we've had ten people march up to Dev and declare that they're potential candidates for stepping into Miyamoto's Mario-makin' shoes! This is going to be one heck of a competition and it could yet become even greater if a couple more folk decided to get creative and join in :toot: .
