PostAre You A Vigilante? - YES YOU ARE (pg.64)

For my posts in this thread, narrative will appear in blue text; game explanations, rules, answers to questions etc. (generally anything breaking the "fourth wall") will appear in regular black text.

Rupeo, Dyiv City, Bas-Ler

For so long priding itself as "the greatest city in Bas-Ler", Dyiv City has become a byword for chaos.

Over the past six decades, the vast urban sprawl of Dyiv has become consumed by crime and violence as successive administrations have failed to adequately police and govern a rapidly-growing, constantly changing, volatile mix of peoples from all over the known world.

Powerful alliances have been forged and fallen. Mayors have come and gone. Who holds the keys to the High Office matters little; vigilante justice is king of these streets.

But in the last twelve months there has been change. For a city so used to apathetic, incompetent or corrupt government and 'peacekeeping', this change has come as a huge shock. Effective, well-funded squads have taken back vast areas of the city, under the control of a new, young, seemingly-incorruptible mayor.

There is only one district that still holds out: the notorius Rupeo.

Once the heart of the city's old town, and still home to some of its most ancient buildings, Rupeo is infamous across Bas-Ler for being, quite simply, hell on earth.

From their simple beginnings on the small back street that carries their name, the Tyol Nethon Vigilantes have dominated Rupeo (and its surrounding neighbourhoods) for nearly fifty years.

No more. Now the Tyol Nethon Vigilantes are the only group still holding out against the police. And the mayor has taken drastic action.

In a move that has angered rights groups across the known world, a great wall has been built around Rupeo, effectively sealing the area's inhabitants inside.

The mayor has told the people of Rupeo, quite simply, this: "the wall comes down when the Tyol Nethon Vigilantes are gone."

Welcome to...

Are You A Vigilante?

In this game, thirty-seven of GRcade's finest will assume the roles of the bounded citizens of Rupeo. To win the game they must identify and kill the Tyol Nethon Vigilantes, who are hiding amongst them.

Every day, the citizens must elect a mob leader. This must be done amongst the citizens, in-thread, by a fair democratic vote. Once elected, this mob leader must send a Private Message ("PM") to me with the names of two other citizens whom they decide should be locked up. The rest of the citizens will then, again via PM, send to me their vote as to which of the two locked-up citizens should be executed.

Once executed, I will reveal whether this citizen was a Tyol Nethon Vigilante or not. Then, the vigilantes will make their kills, in secret. The mob leader will be able to hide in the lockup for the night they are in command, thus making them invulnerable on this night. No player can be mob leader for consecutive days.

The citizens of Rupeo can win the game by killing all of the TNVs. The TNVs can win the game by bringing the number of remaining citizens to a figure lower than or equal to twice their own number. (TNVs do not count as citizens for the purposes of this: so for example, with two remaining TNVs in the game, they can win by bringing the surviving player count to six or lower.)

There are, however, other roles at work, which will become apparent as the game progresses.

Game Schedule (every day; all times GMT)

2pm - mob leader must be elected by this time
3pm - deadline for mob leader to PM me their choices for the lockup
6pm - one of two locked-up citizens is executed and identified
8pm - TNVs make their kills

The Tyol Nethon Vigilantes will be permitted as many kills per night as there are remaining numbers in their ranks.

Events So Far

Sunday (Day Zero)
The game begins!
No-one dies.

Monday (Day One)
Falsey was elected as the mob leader.
He chose to put Qikz and Irene Demova in the lock-up.
Qikz was beaten to death by the mob. He was a Tyol Nethon Vigilante.
Kanbei, Zellery and Drumstick were killed by the Vigilantes. They were all innocent Citizens.
Albear was killed by a mystery crossbow-wielder. He was a Citizen.
1cmanny1 was found bottled by an unknown thug. He was a Citizen.
Red was apparently killed by a single juggling ball blow to the head. She was a Citizen.
FatDaz was found, the victim of what seems to be a familiar death. He was a Citizen.
Kezzer was found dead in his doorway, stood as if speaking to someone on his doorstep. He was a Citizen.
DayumChris xD was found killed by a bullet to the lower leg. He was a Citizen.
Tomous was found permabanned. He was a Citizen.
A mysterious voice said something cryptic.

Tuesday (Day Two)
The citizens started to try and make sense of the words of the cryptic voice.
Mommy was elected as the mob leader.
He chose to put Parksey and mic in the lock-up. However, as he missed the agreed-upon deadline for making his choices known, the remaining citizens turfed him out of the lock-up, so he won't be safe for the night like the mob leader usually would.
mic was beaten to death by the mob. He was a Citizen.
Three corpses were found, killed by the vigilantes. They were identified as Dual, PsychicSykes and (apparently) Denster. They were all innocent Citizens.
One of the corpses vanished.
The lost corpse was found, but it was a dummy. Denster is alive. It is unknown whether he is a Citizen or a Vigilante.
BID0 was found killed by some unknown creature of the night. He was a Citizen.
Dark Donk Dedede Ritual was found to have died by way of spraypaint. He was a Citizen.
Memento Mori was found, chopped to pieces by giant blade. He was a Tyol Nethon Vigilante.
Hank Scorpio was found, also dead in his doorway. He was a Citizen.
Hyperion was found, throttled by some kind of wire. He was a Citizen.
Clarkman was found dead, but he was in a curious state. He was a Tyol Nethon Vigilante.
Errkal and Corazon de Leon were found dead. Errkal appears to have been killed by some kind of Cerebral Bore. Corazon de Leon has been straight-up exploded somehow. Both were Citizens.
Parksey has been found with a snapped neck. He was a Citizen.
Luke_25 was poisoned by someone in the bar. He was a citizen.
Irene Demova was bottled behind the bar. Irene was the Holder of the Rupeo Magnet, this game's protector role, but with the ability to obtain 'ammunition' so as to make kills.
ianf was killed by a citizen with a scythe. He was the last Tyol Nethon Vigilante.
The citizens have won the game!
Are You A Vigilante? Well - yes, yes you were!
Everyone in this game had some kind of vigilante role.
All the true roles can be seen here.

I will keep these spoiler boxes updated as player roles are revealed and events occur.

The mayor does not care who survives this terrible injustice, so long as blood is shed and peace is triumphant.

He is too naive to understand that he has created a situation where the Tyol Nethon Vigilantes can succeed, so long as they can control the rest of you, and paint a picture of a false peace.

Find and kill those Tyol Nethon Vigilantes, before they do the same to you - it's the only way to escape this hell on earth.

As always - no role PM screenshot posting!
Please don't share your role PM with others!

If you've not received your role PM yet, let me know!

"What the hell are we to do?"

"I propose that one of us takes two of the most suspicious citizens into the lock-up, and we decide between us which is the more likely Tyol Nethon Vigilante!"

"But how do we decide which of us makes that call?"

How does the town benefit by building a wall around itself and trapping the troublemakers inside?

Pretty stacked player list in terms of game experience. This should be fun.

Hopefully, I have lots of boring testing to do this week at work that means watching progress bars and stuff so this should help the week go by nicely.

I reckon Denster wouldn't get a role in these games, because he gets vigi killed on day 1.

Edit: Do we know how many Vigilante's there are?

So if vigilantes are baddies (wolves) does that mean we can't hit back with good vigilantes? (Or kill denster :shifty: )

Maybe you're just protecting your vigilante pal :?:

Doesn't seem to be nothing out of the ordinary regarding posting in the thread etc.
