Are You Infected? Day 5 - GAME OVER - pages 58 and 59

Despite the horrific events that happened during the first human Mars colonisation, rapid population growth forced the United Earth Federation to establish colonies around the solar system. For the last 200 years, humans have been colonising the solar system but Mars has remained off limits. It is now time to return to Mars. And this time it is personal….
You are all part of the colonisation team that has arrived to make Mars a home for humanity. However, on arrival one of you slipped away to steal a souvenir from the radioactive remains of the previous mission. This was a bad move, the infection was waiting and mutating in the radioactive wasteland and has grown in power. The infection has now taken full control over its new host and is looking to spread across the solar system….
This game is simple and should play out without any mistakes or incidents (

One of you is the Alpha. The Alpha will infect a victim every night. The mutated power of the Alpha means that he/she will grow in strength every time they successfully infect somebody. The first night they will infect one person. The second night they will infect two people. The third night they will infect three people. The fourth nigh…I think you get it.
With the infection running out of control, you need to find and kill the Alpha as quickly as possible. To do this, you may elect a leader each day who will be kept safe from infection in the quarantine unit. Unfortunately only one person can fit in there at a time and there is no way of knowing if the elected leader is infected or not.
The elected leader will select one person to be thrown into the incinerator to burn the infection from their filthy body.

The daily events are as follows (timings are as per the forum clock and are strictly enforced):
2pm: This is the deadline to confirm IN THE THREAD who the leader is. This must be quoted in bold before 2pm – how you decide on a leader is up to you, you can have a vote, somebody can just take charge, you can flip a coin.
EDIT: DUE TO THE CONTROVERSY THE RULES ON THE LEADER HAVE BEEN CHANGED WEF 26 JULY. THE LEADER MUST BE ELECTED BY A MAJORITY OF PLAYERS - THE LEADER NAME MUST STILL BE POSTED IN BOLD IN THE THREAD BEFORE 2PM, BUT PEOPLE WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO SEIZE CONTROL
6pm: This is the deadline for the leader to confirm VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE who they want to kill. The leader makes the final decision, if they are elected on a platform and then change their minds, then you need to have words with them. Missing the deadline will mean no incineration that night. The leader can confirm their intentions at any time after 2pm as long as it is before 6pm.
7pm: The results of the incineration will be announced at or before this time – maybe you will get lucky this time?
8pm: This is the deadline for the Alpha and any Special Roles to confirm their night actions. These must be sent VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE. Missing the deadline will mean no infections/special role powers that night. The Alpha and any Special Roles can confirm their intentions at any time during the day as long as it is before the 8pm deadline.
9pm: Confirmation of any special roles will be announced before this time.

The game ends when one of the following conditions is met:
The infected outnumber the humans – the Alpha will seize control of the spaceships and return to Earth with his legion of infected. Humanity will be overrun and it will be all your fault.
The humans find and kill the Alpha – On the death of the Alpha, the other infected die instantly. Earth is saved and everybody lives happily ever after.
????? – There might be twists, tricks and surprises along the way that mean the first two win conditions are overruled or made irrelevant.
As usual in these games you are free to reveal your role (if any) but no screenshots of any game related PMs. You may chat to others via private message but again please no screenshots!
