If Irene has already sent the PM, Ironhide is dead right? I thought I saw a rule from Moggy saying the leader couldn't change their choice after they've sent a PM.

That's correct. What's done is done, time to strap in and see what happens!

What can I say, everyone has just blindly gone along with this idea of the player list being alphabetically arranged by role.

As I've said before I'd find having the alpha role to be very difficult as organising everything via PM would be almost impossible for me as typing is difficult for me, I'd be a terrible choice for the role.

OK, fine.

What is your role?

I understand typings hard for you man, but if roles were distributed in a certain way and that's how you ended up with the role then it's far from unreasonable to believe you could be the alpha. It sucks the game has turned out like this, but I've seen the evidence that the list is probably true and so has everyone else here.

You don't choose. I would hope selection is random.
Anyway you're dead soon Alpha.

You have elected Irene Demova as leader

Irene you must PM me the name of the accused and remember that you can't change your mind once the PM has been sent.

Theres a big difference to what happened before when I was questioning the tactics of using PMs and what has happened here which would appear to be a screw up by the organiser and some really good investigation. Its impossible to not follow through on the plan now, and for me they are two completely different instances. One was deliberately trying to undermine the game for information no player should ever recieve, the other is the creator screwing up and the players (quite rightly) using that to their advantage. I feel super bad for Moggy if that is indeed the case, but sadly that boat has well and truly sailed.

DML is like the guy in the pub who won't stop critiquing your choice of drink. Yeah, we get it, you like fancy beer, but we're just trying to get drunk.

No absolutely not, Moggy has done a sterling job creating an intriguing puzzle. Its so easy for an oversight like this to happen and I genuinely feel bad for him if it turns out to be true.

I'll get a saucer of milk for Karl.

But the PM thing is perfectly valid so long as no screen grabs are shown. The idea is that people can lie about roles or even if they tell the truth, its on the recipient to decide whether to believe or not. For me that is a perfectly valid strategy and in no way "breaks the game" even the role title thing requires a leap of faith from someone for it to become viable.

This Alphabet thing though, despite good detective work, if true it ruins all sense of sportsmanship as it no longer requires the players to use any skill, deception or tactics etc, an administrative cock up IS game breaking.

Thanks, Moggy. :slol:

Also wanted to chime in with this. I've always been too chicken to get involved in forum games before, but now that I have and I've interacted with people I wouldn't normally I can see it's a great way of getting to know your fellow forumites. Really brings us all together.....well until we all turn on each other and blow up Mars.

Good stuff :D

Alright, very funny. Who flushed their EVA suit down the toilet next to Engineering? I've been mopping up for the last three hours. :x

If DML was the Alpha, then it might explain why he's happy with one cheap play (that's aiming us away from him) and not another(which was aiming us towards him). Given that he's such a purist, seems odd he's so in favour of our current strategy, which surely isn't in the spirit of the game.

I think if everyone was previously named roles - albeit Seers, Vigis, Humans etc...it would be fair. But when being used to find out names of un-named roles are using the general gist of PMs to share and swap information, which are not meant to be shared, thats the unfair part. You cannot lie about a hidden PM if someone else has that exact same PM, because as soon as you lie, someone will kill you - its therefore NOT possible to lie. You have 100% confirmed roles, and in any hidden role game, confirmation without death is a huge no-no. Its not 'moaning', its just empathizing with a game-runner.

This current tactic isn't bad sportsmanship, it may ruin the game - but theres nothing unsporting about what happened. Dan has played an absolute masterstroke to notice it. On the former I would certainly side with the gamerunner, but on this one its just an oversight by Moggy thats backfired.
