Its impossible to not follow through on the plan now, and for me they are two completely different instances. One was deliberately trying to undermine the game for information no player should ever recieve, the other is the creator screwing up and the players (quite rightly) using that to their advantage. I feel super bad for Moggy if that is indeed the case, but sadly that boat has well and truly sailed.
But the PM thing is perfectly valid so long as no screen grabs are shown. The idea is that people can lie about roles or even if they tell the truth, its on the recipient to decide whether to believe or not. For me that is a perfectly valid strategy and in no way "breaks the game" even the role title thing requires a leap of faith from someone for it to become viable.
This Alphabet thing though, despite good detective work, if true it ruins all sense of sportsmanship as it no longer requires the players to use any skill, deception or tactics etc, an administrative cock up IS game breaking.
I think if everyone was previously named roles - albeit Seers, Vigis, Humans etc...it would be fair. But when being used to find out names of un-named roles are using the general gist of PMs to share and swap information, which are not meant to be shared, thats the unfair part. You cannot lie about a hidden PM if someone else has that exact same PM, because as soon as you lie, someone will kill you - its therefore NOT possible to lie. You have 100% confirmed roles, and in any hidden role game, confirmation without death is a huge no-no. Its not 'moaning', its just empathizing with a game-runner.
This current tactic isn't bad sportsmanship, it may ruin the game - but theres nothing unsporting about what happened. Dan has played an absolute masterstroke to notice it. On the former I would certainly side with the gamerunner, but on this one its just an oversight by Moggy thats backfired.
