When you say, how did the alpha know which one to target, I assumed you meant, why did the Alpha go for Falsey?
Since the vial broke that cut our immunes by 50%, Falsey has been actively contributing to the thread and discussion that has led to us killing several infected and the alpha. As the most high-profile player who was known to be infected, and the one giving the most to the human cause, he was an obvious choice for targeting with the vigi kill.
However, your bringing up the vial breakage makes me think perhaps that's not what you were talking about?
Maybe he was just killed because he was useful to the humans but I just figured the Alpha would only use up a vig kill on someone he knew was definitely still immune, the only way he'd know would if something leaked out.
So you're saying, how did the alpha know to go for Falsey, when he'd be better saving his bullet for someone who's confirmed still immune?
Well, for a start, none of us can know who's immune at this point, on either side.
Secondly, as we've been saying for a while now, we have to get rid of the vigis to secure the game. So the alpha wouldn't want to hold on to a bullet (or whatever) on the off-chance a target emerges - we all know where the vigis are on that list, it's a race against time between us and them for us to kill them.
The alpha pretty much needed to fire all available shots as soon as they became available. We as the humans aren't going to target any of those immune players - we know some are no longer immune, we know that since then some of them may have become infected. The one person who'd know that beyond all doubt would be the alpha.
So what you're essentially saying is, has there been a leak, or did the alpha simply choose to shoot in the hope they'd hit one of the targets who is still immune?
I think the alpha would shoot, because their weapon might not last long enough for them to get a second shot. And sure, Falsey may no longer have been immune, but he's a big loss to our side even if he were vulnerable. And I'd say firing at someone they know 100% isn't on their time, is far less risky than attempting to infect someone with a 50/50 chance of being immune, as that could be their only move on that night, and if they waste it, then they've lost a day and ground on the humans.
The fact is, if you're a human, why wouldn't you kill last night, before you could be targeted tonight? You could have easily targeted Denster. But you didn't. And this fact makes me believe you're infected.
EDIT: @ Edd.

It's already lost. It became so when it was passed to an infected, i.e. Edd.
If Edd turns out to be innocent, then your key will have gone - but then we can be relatively certain Denster is the vigi responsible for killing Falsey and the scanner can get him.
One key for an infected vigi - I'm sure you'd agree this is a good swap!
Who should mayor Cora lynch (if elected)
Lynch Edd - Dan, BID0, Karl, Rhubarb, Preezy (5)
Lynch Denster - Edd (1)

Why would I have killed Denster last night? I had no reason to believe he was infected. It wasn't until after he killed someone that I realised the alpha was probably recruiting the vigs.
Also you could use that exact same logic the other way and ask Denster why he didn't target me last night.
PUNY HUMAN DRUMSTICK HAS COMPLETED HIS TESTS. RESULTS TO FOLLOW ON HIS RETURN AT 2PM TOMORROW. RUSSIAN VICTORY ASSURED. WRESTLE BEARS....FIGHT USA...GLORY TO THE MOTHERLAND.

You'll get no sympathy from me, I ran for mayor yesterday with a platform of killing you on the basis that the alpha's next move would clearly be to recruit vigilantes. If someone running for mayor looking to lynch you doesn't catch your eye then I don't know what will The idea that both sides now need to move for the vigilantes has been well known for plenty of time, keeping up to date with thread is all it would take to know this. You can't reasonably claim "oh it was only after last night's vigi kill" unless you've either not been paying attention or you're infected - and in either of those situations, I'm afraid I'm entirely unsympathetic.

Except I suspect Denster may not even be a vigilante. You're the only one we know for certain is.

Edd's sent me the PM's he got regarding receipt of the keycard and they are massively stripped down compared to the big long list of "if you pass to such and such" clauses I got when Met sent me it. However, whilst it does cast some doubt on Edd, I also think it's likely that now that the scientist is dead Moggy just isn't bothering with all the details I got since they're no longer relevant. To check this theory I've asked furiosum to send me his keycard (if he still has it) to see what I get when I receive one this time.
I have tennis from 4 till 5 so unless furiosum gets back to me sharpish then I doubt I'll be able to give any more updates on the keycard before Edd gets sent to his doom, soz m8 ur probly ded xoxoxo
