I look forward to quoting this post in November 2019 when you are excitedly posting about your Xbox Two pre-order. ;)

Hmm, I agree that this generation took a while to get going, but look at what we'd potentially be looking back on at the end of the generation with the same respect...

God of War
Mario Odyssey
Zelda BOTW
Witcher 3
Uncharted 4
Bloodborne
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Persona 5
Overwatch
Monster Hunter: World

...with the best yet to come...

Cyberpunk 2077
Red Dead Redemption 2
Last of Us 2
Spider-man
Dreams
Death Stranding
Metroid Prime 4
Pokemon Switch

Yeah, I really enjoyed last gen but this gen has, in my opinion, been just as good if not better. The big change for me has been online gaming; I barely got into that during last gen but now I love it. The PS4 is, for me, shaping up to be one of my all-time favourite consoles.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

I've gone the complete opposite.

I loved online gaming on PS3 and 360, so many hours enjoyed with friends on GTA V, FIFA, Halo 3, Last of Us, WipEout HD, Virtua Fighter 5...

This generation the only games I've gotten into online have been Uncharted 4 and PES 2018, I have too many commitments stopping me from scheduling with friends, and too many big online games have been released in buggy, incomplete states.

For me this generation has all been about deep, immersive worlds with convincing characters, I've sunk most of my hours into Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Metal Gear Solid V, Mario Odyssey and cannot wait to explore the worlds of God of War, Cyberpunk 2077, Last of Us 2, Spider-man, Metroid Prime 4 and Death Stranding.

90% of all my gaming is online. Sea of Thieves, PUBG and Rocket League dominate my gaming at the moment.

The Division has just gotten into the mix at the expense of Fortnite.

To be fair that is quite an impressive list. I guess what I was saying is that there hasn't been much wth a big build up, last gen had a load of games that we new about years before they were released.

They might want to do something about their first party studios first then.

Its a damn good list, but think about it this way, its only 10 games. 10 games for an entire generation. One of them is an online only FPS, one is a pretty marmite JRPG, Uncharted 4 id scratch from the list altogether, and none of which are exclusive to Xbox. And yet were already talking about a new generation starting as early as next year. There have been some great games this gen but honestly its easily the weakest gen i can think of, (if its almost over that is). I really just cant get my head around how bad its been for MS mostly. I guess i can understand why theyd want to move on to a new console so quickly.

But there are more you could add:
Alien Isolation
PUBG
Yakuza 0
Metal Gear Solid V
Doom
Wolfenstein
The Evil Within
Resident Evil 7
Nier
Destiny

But I do still agree with you (other than Uncharted 4, it's easily the best UC game) to an extent. Microsoft certainly have the weakest first party line up of any modern console generation, wth the exception of the Forza games there's nothing more than a bunch of 7/10 games at best.

All of the above will be on PC too with cross play.

List wars are forum AIDS and are getting away from the central question on if you are ready/want the next-gen anytime soon.

I'm more than happy to see this generation run for a few more years, my backlog is bloody huge and I only have a PS4. There is a Switch in the house, but not even my son can be bothered to turn it on these days. I'd take another portable Nintendo though, not a hybrid, a proper 3DS follow up.

I'd like to get an XB1 at some point, but with how many games I have to get through on PS4, that I couldn't justify adding more games I won't get round to playing.

I'm same with XB1X, too many games to justify a PS4 purchase.

On a side note, I like that Xbox Exclusive online games go to PC as well, its good for the numbers and cross play is great, works very well in the much maligned Sea of Thieves, you literally can't tell who's on what.

I hope The Master Chief Collection goes to PC too ( I really think it is ) It still amazingly has the numbers but be good to get a good boost.

The games I listed had Metacritic scores of 90% or above, don't lump games like Crackdown and State of Decay in the same caliber where when their previous iterations were in the low-70s.

Fable 4 and Perfect Dark are rumors only and, if rumors of development only started recently are true then don't expect to see them until next-gen.

Interested in what you think this would deliver over a Switch?
