PostAre you religious?

Sorry if the poll doesnt include your religion that is all I could think of for now. Personally I'm athiest and with the advancement of the knowledge of Darwin's theory of evolution and also our understanding of the universe I find it hard to understand why people still turn to a book that was written by man thousands of years ago for their understanding of the world we live in. Even if there is a God (which is highly unlikely), I find it a little bit arrogant and presumptuous to assume it is any God we have written about as to me the Flying Spaghetti Monster (http://www.venganza.org/) has just as much chance as being real as any of the Gods in the major religions throughout the world. What do you all think?

Paganism simply means to not believe in the Christian/Judaism/Muslim god. :?

I'm in the "I don't care" camp. Which is that?

It's an umbrella term for many beliefs. It is a term which, from a Western perspective, has modern connotations of spiritualist, animistic or shamanic practices or beliefs of any folk religion, and of historical and contemporary polytheistic religions in particular.

But since the later 20th century, "Pagan" or "Paganism" has become widely used as a self-designation by adherents of Neopaganism. As such, various modern scholars have begun to apply the term to three separate groups of faiths: Historical Polytheism (such as Celtic polytheism and Norse paganism), Folk/ethnic/Indigenous religions (such as Chinese folk religion and African traditional religion), and Neo-paganism (such as Wicca and Germanic Neopaganism).

I am married to a spiritualist and she is from Scandinavia where Norse Paganism pre-dates Christianity.

I don't have a religion. I was brought up Christian but I just couldn't get along with it so ditched it when I was 12. My Dad's family are from Jewish descent but the last to practice it were my great Granparents.

God, no. I'm semi-anti-semetic.

I don't think I can consider myself conventionally religious.

There may well be something controlling the universe. However, if it's dependant on me in any way worshipping it, then it doesn't seem like much of an omnipotent being, and given that I seem to have no interaction with it, it generally seems to be a bit pointless worshipping it at any rate.

Agnosticism is unknowing. Not caring is more akin to atheism and non-religious views.

Agnostic yeah. Also i'm keen to seperate belief in God and religous belief because the two don't necessarily go hand in hand. I could be open to the idea of a creative force but dismiss miracles, Life after death, a God that responds to petitionary prayer etc.

Cathoicilsm is a branch of christianity?

i used to be a strong christian, now i would call myself agnostic. Unfortunately.

I'm genuinely surprised by the poll results though. didn't realise it would be that 1 sided

Catholic here. It helps with life, in a non-invasive way. It's also relieving to know that I'll be basking in heaven whilst you're all burning and rotting to the sound of S-Club 7.
