This sounds pretty neat, I’ll give it a go either tonight or tomorrow, like the idea of different rule sets, hopefully this is something they will allow you to use for private games

Yeah the event was pretty fun. I managed to get to level 15 in about an hour before calling it a night. Shame I didn't realise it had already started, as it ends 6pm tomorrow here and I might not get time to hit max rank before it ends.

Hopefully it can invigorate the game somewhat, as I definitely feel ARMs has been a big casualty of the Switch's great lineup, especially due to being sandwiched between MK8 and Splatoon.

The problem is, fighters are pretty niche and 1v1 is a fairly daunting and unforgiving test of your skills. Unlike Splatoon, it's nearest rival and released about three weeks after it, you can't just get by by doing something to help the tean, like spraying turf.

It's just you against your opponent and if you lose its you're own fault or the fact you aren't good enough. And often in fighting games you have to be able to take the initial hammering in order to get better. It's why I have never progressed in Street Fighter as I don't have the patience and willpower to practice, take a few hundred losses and gradually improve. There are some catch up mechanics in Arms, and it has the party mode, but it's still more often than not about skill.

Does this event not continue over the weekend? Plenty of people mostly play games on the weekend. Seems a bit of an oversight.

That's like the exact opposite problem I have with Splatfests

Yeah, timing is odd. Maybe because Spatfest is a weekend they're avoiding? I dunno, hope they keep it going though as its a great way of revisiting Arms after some time out.

It also encourages you to try different Arms which is something I never do as I usually only play Ranked where you stick to your best.

This party crash was great fun, had a couple matches with Jazzem and manage to get up to near level 10. Will dive back in again tomorrow I think

Potentially the event was to coincide with Thanksgiving and the fact that Thursday was a holiday in Japan. I had a man-cold so was in my pyjamas playing games all day. What were you losers doing?

Thought I'd play to get up to 20 and ended up getting to level 30! Really enjoyed this event.

I don't know who's still playing this but Party Crash is on again this weekend with Min Min and Ninjara and is alot of fun. Worth a few hours of your time at least.

Question. Is this any good for casuals? (That would be me then!) I'm thinking New Years Ever multiplay....

If you're all casuals then it's probably good fun messing around with the motion controls but if anyone's any good they'll win with ease.

The switch has better casual multiplayer options though.

Cheers Tomous. Decided not to bother though - when I realised I'd need to invest in a second pair of joycons....! We've tried Snissorclips and Overcooked but both a disaster in terms of my wife playing them. I do miss WiiSports for genuine inclusion....

Surely the best Switch game for casuals / parties is 1 2 Switch?

But is it any good? I am tempted but you know, it’s not cheap....

Edit: Anyone played it for a reasonable amount of time? Opinions?

My son, his friends and I loved it but you won't play it long term.

Cheers. I went for it and we enjoyed it. I am particularly bad at rocking a baby to sleep. We'll play it a few more times for sure.

But..., why didn't Nintendo knock the price of it down to £20-00 for Christmas / New Year. (Because that's what its worth.) I'm sure loads of people would have gone for it to play at parties and it would have further boosted the profile of the Switch.

Plays ARMS online for first time. Gets thrashed 2-0. Gets a badge anyway! Love this. I'm at level 1 and a bit, it's all too much but I keep trying!! Keep hoping things will start to become more instinctive?
