Good score batting first but it kind of feels like they left 20-30 runs on the field in the last powerplay.

239/4 after 35.5 overs when Roy got out to 342/8.

Nice to see Roy get another ton, been a while since he's made any sort of score at all.

Boom. Terrible last 5 overs, really need to learn how to bat at the death.

Interesting stat about Bairstow opening the innings:

He's scored 6 centuries since assuming one of the two opening spots last summer. In comparison, both Hales and Roy have scored 5 each when opening since the last World Cup.

Just caught up with the highlights from yesterday. Don't think they did the match justice compared to watching it live obviously. But good grief, marvelous, just marvelous.

I take full responsibility for this   Hales and Morgan were both out seconds after I tuned in.

Hello! New forumite, new cricket person. Likes Tests, not keen on T20, even less keen on The Hundred.

I'm guessing it's mostly an international community here? As in, not much interest in the county game? I just like to know whether my witterings about Cameron Steel for England will be met with scorn or bewilderment.

Welcome mate :) There's a fair amount of interest in the County game in here. I'm a Hants fan. We debate squad selection quite a lot (Vincey ). Hope you'll stick around :)

Although most of the chatter is around internationals, we do have forumites in here who more than know their county game. So yeah, witter away :P And welcome to the forum!

Thanks both! I'm a big fan of Vince... for the white ball squads. :P Do like Sam Northeast though! And, er. Gary Ballance.

I'm a Durham fan for my grievous sins, but also have ties to Middlesex and Leicestershire. The latter of whom seems to be beating the former right now. Not sure what the heck's going on there.

Welcome. I tend to follow Notts' results but I'm not particularly informed on the county game. And Vince is nowhere near the England team and that's how we like it.

Part of me still remembers and can't get away from when he started in the England team and, for a short while, seemed to be an absolute rock at the top of the order. (And took his shirt off for some reason.)

I know he's fallen away dramatically since then, and he's nowhere near my England choices as things stand; but I long for the day when he'll rise again, like a phoenix from the Ashes. Only with a more doughy-looking face.

I am not much of a follower of county cricket, but I’d say I was a Somerset fan. Really I should support Gloucestershire (as I am from Bristol) but it has always felt wrong to me.

This is Sussex's year to return to Div 1. 8-)

Gary Ballance was once fantastic in the England team. Then New Zealand and Australia exposed his technical flaw and he has seemingly refused to alter his technique based on his most recent recall. One of the many players that are probably too good for county but get found out at test level and are unable to adapt. It's a shame really, because like I said, he was at a time so reliable and consistent.

Keaton Jennings has done his chances of retaining his spot atop the order a world of good with his unbeaten ton today. Personally I think Burns deserves a go, perhaps at number 3.
