Warner will never be considered for captaincy according to CA statement

The amount of vitriol that Warner is getting in the wake of this suggests, a) he won't ever play international cricket for Australia again and b) nobody has a good word to say about him.

Lehmann doesn't come out of this looking very good either, he's thrown those 3 under a bus.

Cricket Australia reportedly have no love for Warner and have long been tired of his antics. Apparently, they had Darren Lehmann on his first day on the job, tell Warner that if he strawberry floated up one more time he was gone.

England have announced a 12 man squad for tomorrow. Effectively, Leach will play, Overton and Wood will battle it out for the remaining spot. Hopefully they pick Wood.

Edit: Actually that's not right. I've just seen Vince is in that 12, so if Stokes doesn't bowl then Vince will miss out whilst Wood and Overton will both play. Maddening that Vince is still under consideration.

Was there really any point in taking Livingstone? Surprised that Overton was preferred over Woakes, not surprised that Moeen is dropped. He's been due since the Ashes, they should have given him this tour off and sent him away to work on whatever is going wrong for him at the moment.

Just read an article which said Stokes hasn't been bowling in the nets so it doesn't seem like your boy is going to get another chance to nick off until the Pakistan matches in May.

:( - my man has some serious edges. As a side note, I used to have a Kookaburra bat which had "MONSTER EDGES" written on it. I'm not sure what that said to the opposition about my technique.

Good riddance.

It probably just gave them the impression that you are a bit of an edgelord.

What I want to know at this point is who at the ECB does Vince have serious dirt on? :x

Getting Leach into the team now is a good move from the selection committee as we've got a 3 test series in Sri Lanka at the end of the year.

I hope that rat faced, midget gobshite Lyon is roped into it somehow. Was *so happy* when I heard he was part of that senior group of players who knew about the ball tampering (apparently so was Starc) but haven't heard anything since

Got to say I feel sorry for these guys, especially Smith, who seeks properly genuinely devastated and contrite about his mistake.

I don't think it is.

The Australian team have demonstrated themselves to be pretty toxic over the past few years, particularly since Lehmann took over as coach. They were extremely unlikeable with the likes of Michael Clarke and, in particular, Brad Haddin in the ranks.

This side has been on another level. This has been largely due to a combination of Warner, Lyon and Starc. At best, Smith has enabled this behaviour on the pitch and at worst has been complicit in it. It may well be the case here that Warner is the man to blame and has dragged down Bancroft (be it through blackmail or general pressure). Bancroft dodged the question about Warner during his press conference. However, Smith allowed this to happen and is responsible for the team.

I fail to believe that the bowlers were not aware of the goings on. I fail to believe that numbers 1, 2 and 4 in the batting order were manipulating the ball without any of the bowlers being aware. The punishments are harsh but set a strong precedent. This has been coming.

The number of people coming out with sympathy for the players now simply because they've looked upset on camera is ridiculous.
