Another equal day.

That batting collapse was so disappointing. We constantly harp on about the middle order bailing out the top after poor starts but this innings has been the reverse.

Well done on Australia winning 1st test. Seen this far too many times. Complete collapse and a very low winning target for the Aussies.

I do think that we've undeniably thrown away strong advantages in this match. 246/4 should have been 400, not 300.

Had the Aussies at 76/4. Should have been all out for 200.

I wonder if Cook would consider doing a Swann...

It's all very disappointing, yet predictable.

For starters they need to attack Lyon more, like Moeen did. Refusing to do so means they're left trying to score off the 3 quicks which is challenging enough. Defending against him 24/7 will get you out sooner rather than later.

I feel like I've seen Root get out LBW playing across the line a million times now, it's a definite weakness of his. He steps too far across, loses balance and is pinned in front of middle and leg.

I can see why the Moeen decision was given but it does look like the line across the popping crease is thicker than the rest of the line, meaning Moeen would have to be further back than normal which explains why he was so confident when it was referred.

But it's standard England in a nutshell. Have multiple advantages in a match, fail to press them. Opponent gets advantage, keeps their feet on our throats until it's done.

So does anyone want to gamble on when Stokes will play in the Ashes? I'm thinking the fourth test unless we lose the next one.

He might play the 5th test but otherwise I doubt we'll see in action.

Apparently we are set to play the second test with no establisher spinner as Moeen's finger is still damaged.

Ahahahaha. :|

Mason Crane and James Vince could be in the same XI. HAMPSHIRE TAKEOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER

Edit: Bah. Root said that might be possible earlier but Crane isn't in the twelve man squad. The takeover is off :(

That would be a good theory IF our friends at the ECB had not just published the squad for tomorrow's test and not included Crane.

I wonder if Root doesn’t like being a captain! He’s just handed the initiative to Australia! What a twat!
