To be fair - that was unplayable. Frustrating for him but absolutely nothing he could do about that.

Bastards, I was hoping to wake up and it all be over. Now I'm going to be subjected to listening to us lose the ashes whilst working (if we can bat for another 90 mins).

It is done. Malan's resistance impressed me. From our perspective, that's it. I'm considering sending the ECB a scathing email, the only thing that puts me off is that I don't think the arrogant bastards would bother reading it.

We might as well get the post mortem over with now, the rest of the series is an irrelevance. So, where do England go from here? Is it time for Cook to hang up his bat? Should Jimmy be swapping seam for crown green? Is it really worth seeing Broad fending off fast bowling for another year?

Couldn’t even bat out 70 overs.

Overton set to miss fourth test with a rib injury.

Do you bring in Ball and try somethign radical and give Mason Crane a shot?

Personally, I would drop Vince and try to reshuffle the batting order. If you play Crane, Moeen has to play as a pure batsman or be dropped (either is OK with me because he's being carried so far this tour).

I'm still drafting my ever growing email to the ECB.

Looks like Mason Crane is definitely playing but I think that'll leave England very exposed in pace bowling with just Woakes, Broad and Anderson (you can guarantee one of those will pick up a knock during the game). Don't think Ball will play and Vince probably did enough in the last test to cement his place for the rest of the tour. If we had another opener on the tour then I'd consider dropping Cook and blooding them but we don't.

Dunno, maybe tell him to score some bloody runs?

WTF

And no he is not the answer. Although, I wouldn't be surprised to see the following happen:

The ECB, with all their brilliant plans, decide to drop Vince without a recognised and credible number three on standby to replace him. They then decide to shunt Malan up the order to three with the logic that he is our leading run scorer. By doing this they create a problem space at number five... leading to the return of you know who.

Cooky.

Proving the doubters wrong once again.

What a day. Australia slumped from 260/3 to 327 all out.

You're kidding, right? It's England Vs Australia. It always matters.

Nope. The ashes are gone and Australia have any easy excuse for losing any of these games. The results of these last 2 tests are irrelevant unless you're a mis-firing England batsman.

That's not the talk of an irrelevant match.
