There's wickets to be had with the level swing and seam on offer here.

Root seems very reticent to throw the ball to Moeen.

The three big wickets!!

Edit: and the little one!

I do feel that Woakes needs to come back into the attack whenever he's ready. I like Wood but he isn't cutting it at the moment and he's expensive.

Went into a testing session where I was unable to watch the cricket whilst we took four wickets. You're welcome gentlemen.

Why does it feel like we always have this problem of getting the last 3 or 4 wickets? Like it might not necessarily be true but it seems like we've bowled out a side's top 6 or 7 for comparatively few runs and then the bowlers come in and salvage their innings somewhat. 235/6 to 300+/6. A joke. Should have been 300 all out with the new ball.

England certainly seemed to let it drift up to the new ball but that's maybe Roots inexperience. He also bowled too much Dawson and nowhere near enough Moeen. Looks like someone is trying to justify a selection. England would have been better off with another batsman but their squad doesn't have one.

England are such a frustrating team. Yesterday was nothing short of a gooseberry fool show but you might have let them off slightly if wickets tumbled at a canter last night and this morning.

But no. SA have shown that there are runs in the pitch if you're prepared to put the hard yards in first. It's like the tour of India all over again. They are simply unable or refuse to bat sensibly and play safe cricket until they're in. Waftless drives, harebrained shots, and the odd good delivery (think of Jennings and Cook there) have put them in this position yet again.

Totally average this test. Hopefully they up the game for the Oval, make some changes and we get an interesting match

So, how many runs do we think England will make? I'm going for 214.
