Preezy :x

Malan plays instead of Dawson. Sadly this probably means JB is going to be shunted back down to 7 because of course they can't possibly move Stokes down the order.

England winning the toss and opting to bat, interesting.

We should reboot the thread when it gets to 400 pages in honour of BC. Interesting decision by England, both choosing to bat and taking the extra batsman. Go big or go home boys!

Not an ideal couple of sessions but SA have bowled very well and to give 'em their due, England have attempted to fight through the difficult phases where SA have been on top instead of giving their wickets away. 3 or the 4 wickets have been utterly brilliant deliveries.

Decent session.

Regards Cook, I don't think the umpire should be giving such a marginal decision at first glance as out.

Rabada has a few magic balls in his armoury, Malan's yesterday was an absolute jaffa and that ball to Bairstow was pretty sweet. Good session though for England, would be nice if these 2 hung around for a while and pushed us up around 350.

Well played Ben Stokes. That 20 odd he scored for the last wicket could prove vital.

Yeah he's owed the team some runs so nice for it to come when it was sorely needed.

WTF?! How can the umpire give Amla not out after the Cook dismissal?

Reckon we could have skittled them out had it not been for the light/spin halting the momentum

Definitely, though as long as we don't get a full day of rain I'd say that's match over already. Big Vern isn't going to play tomorrow (well, at least not at present), so if we bat tomorrow they'll be starved of their best bowler, if we enforce the follow on they'll have a 200 deficit to make up.

If Philander is as sick as he appears I'd be amazed if he was anywhere near his best even if he did make it back this weekend. He might get a couple of wickets because any ball is a potential scalp with our top order, but his fitness must be all over the shop and I'd be surprised if he could bowl his normal share.

In terms of batting I'd just stick him out in the middle whatever state he's in just to let his partner squeeze a final run or two.
