They're going to need him in less than a week though so maybe you wouldn't risk him.

Yeah, I wouldn't risk him at all. There just seemed to be a question mark about him maybe coming back for today on TMS and us having to take an extra wicket if they weren't all out as the pace slowed last night. Even if he did come back, I'd be surprised and impressed if he was their best bowler on the day. Obviously he could be their best bowler and the others could all play like they'd contracted cholera too, that would be great!

Bavuma has impressed me in this game, he's come in in two very shitty positions and played nicely.

Top work today.

Westley impressed me a lot. He's exactly what anyone would want in a number 3 - assured, takes time to build his innings and just looks like he belongs. I don't want to put the mockers on but he looks like the real deal. He also doesn't seem the type to throw his wicket away in a collapse like most of the team. Just need a solid opener now...

Obviously TRJ has been magnificent and I see him as the long term replacement for Anderson as Woakes will surely come back into the side when fit.

It's pretty funny.

Moeen on a hat trick now. Good innings by Elgar.

EDIT: And gets the hat trick across two overs with overturning on a review. Quality finish.

Moeen!

3 hat-trick attempts in that innings and Moeen gets it with the last ball :datass:

The citizens of GRcade are now England selectors. What do you do with Jennings and Malan for the final game of the series bearing in mind the West Indies visit in 3 weeks time and The Ashes looming?

Win toss, bat first. It's the modern way.

Edit: and Big Vern misses out. Ideal scenario for some big first innings runs. Especially for Jennings as Philander has had him on toast this series.

I completely missed your earlier post. I'd have dropped Jennings and taken the gamble on Hameed, home test and with a relatively easy set of games coming up against W.I. I think that would have been enough to give him the confidence. I'd keep Malan though, he got a belting delivery in his first innings.

Good toss to win given recent games. No Philander either is good news for everyone in the England batting line up.

Is that the nail in the coffin for Jennings?

Probably.

Root has to start turning more of these 50s into centuries.

Yeah, Root's getting decent scores but definitely needs to convert more. Unless Jennings can score big in the second innings, that could be it for him. Scratching around for 15 runs each time isn't going to cut it. Sad that Stokes got out at the end, could have been destructive in the morning

Oh Johnny...

Good last wicket stand though, excellent play.
