Hiding in the bushes and whistling never gets old. Then a quick kill and a yoink into the hedge.

The Arabic language needed to be downloaded as they decided to make English the default. But it only took a couple of minutes. Makes a big difference to the atmosphere.

I've also unlocked contracts which are side missions with very useful rewards. So I'll focus on them and then back to the story. The aide missions have additional objectives which if completed give more rewards, so you'll get more gold if you don't kill anyone.

It feels like Assassin's Creed 2 and has a very nice atmosphere. Very pleased they decided to return to the old style, even if it's a one off it's a reminder of how good the games were at stealth.

I'll get it when it's on sale at £20 or less.

7 hours in. So far no bugs, crashes or performance issues.

Working on the main quest to unlock more equipment. Good game for the current price of £45. But I'm sure it'll be a lot cheaper soon as the Assassin's Creed games always drop quickly.

Two and a half hours in and just started exploring Baghdad. This definitely feels like classic Creed, and I'm loving it.

I only ever played the first 2 games (at launch) and then Origins (about 6 months ago). I loved the second game, so if it does fell like that, but in a (to me) more evocative setting, I will be picking it up in the near future.

Played like 10mins before I HAD to try Forza but....not happy about the classic creed comment... I'll give it a proper go over the weekend.

I plan to play this, I much preferred AC before Origins onwards.

8 hours in. Started to focus on side contracts which unlock skill points and now I've nearly unlocked all tools for distraction and killing.

Gathering up loads of things as I run around and move the story forward. Just found a cartographer who sells locations of all treasure so that's going to make the game easier.

Really enjoying the assassinations and then legging it.

Only done the prologue, but had a great time going super-stealth right from the off, hiding all the bodies like Sam Fisher. It was a bit annoying when the game then forced me into evasion mode, but I get why the story sometimes requires it.

Still can’t help thinking of 24 when I hear Roshan. She has such a distinctive voice.

14 hours in. All tools unlocked and fully upgraded.

The amount of armour and weapons is just right and the chests hide upgrade schematics for specific equipment. Still loads of them to find but it's a lot more manageable than previous games. It allows for interesting play styles as I have a sword which does more damage with each hit, a suit which heals me when hiding and a dagger that improves thrown life damage.

I'm enjoying what I have played so far, but there really needs to be an option to disable the chromatic aberration (There's toggles for motion blur and depth of field, but nothing for CA).

A quick example (Not actually a spolier, just hidden for images):
One area when in the middle of the screen

The same area when it is towards the edge of the screen

It makes me feel how I used to before I had glasses; horribly nauseating. This is the only game I've played to do so.

21 hours in. Closing in on the big bad. About 3 more quests before I start the final one. I think 25 hours to do everything and that includes finding all optional stuff.

Plenty agree:

Hopefully they'll add it as an option.

Sounds like the game has performed quite well, which I guess increases the chances of more classic-style instalments.

Gonna spend some time with this over my week off. Loving it so far and I'm not even properly in Baghdad yet. Just been snooping about the desert.

Shohreh Aghdashloo has been great so far. But she's great in everything she's in.

I imagine there'd be the possibility of that anyway. If the plans for Infinity truly allow for it to be a hub for all Assassin's Creed content, then smaller, stealth-focused games seem like a given among the big, always expanding main entries. And if this idea of opening the series up to all their studios pays off.

Yeah, true. But if this had bombed, it might have been the last of its kind.

If Mirage had bombed... yeah. Even if other studios can work on their own games, there's no telling if the failure of Mirage would have denied classic experiences from being a part of Infinity. Once this whole phase three stuff is up and running, I guess we'll see what sort of plans are unveiled.

Good news: the latest update includes an option to turn off chromatic aberration.
