Kotaku deserve credit for getting the scoop and sticking one to Ubisoft

Not played an Assassins Creed game since the first one but I would be up for this as long as there are no story threads hanging over that require you to have played every game in the series

He saved the world by cutting up those evil Templar bitches. :dread:

They should get in Danny Dyer to voice The Ripper. "Cut her organs out so no-one will want her".

It's not like the team "finished" Unity, then started on this.

Agreed. I'm just saying that the fact it's an annual release isn't necessarily to blame for that. They could give the respective teams the time they need to create quality games, and still release one every year, if that's what they're determined to do. But they're obviously cutting corners/budgets.

As the setting moves on in both time and location, I'm looking forward to the 2017 version being set in 1980s Glasgow where the Assassins are all just mental cnuts who'll chib ye fir a poke a chips.

In fact, they could probably just re-skin Black Flag to save them the hassle.

I actually thought that's how it worked for all games after the Ezio series was done with, but in fact it's all been Ubi Montreal with other teams pitching in :fp: If they *actually* aped what Activision do with CoD then maybe we would see a difference like we did with AC I and II despite them being annual releases. (as rinks said)

strawberry floating hell... you know something has gone wrong somewhere when you end up having to suggest do what Activision do. :fp:

I was actually thinking last night! But not only is Jack the Ripper in the game the twist is that you-the player character are Jack the Ripper, but we-the player don't find out until near the end!

Jack the Ripper was a Assassin but was set up by the Knights Templar to be the historical figure we know of today.

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate

Apparently the game has been rebranded Assassin's Creed: Syndicate.
The US website's background pic confirms the Victorian setting with 'God Save the Queen' scratched into wood and a Dickens quote.

Oppression has to end.

Looks like we're seeing a comeback for the wrist mounted firearms.

Since Paris sounded like the East End on London, will London sound like Paris?

This is your last chance AC, you better be as good as IV for me to give a gooseberry fool about this franchise going forward.

TBH they need to reboot it, start us off in the ancient haydays of Babylon, Canaan etc and bring us a simpler, better tale that interweaves Assassins and Templars throughout the fabric of human history.

Apparently Jack the Ripper is in this game, he's a target for assassination whose identity you have to uncover somewhere along the game. I suppose this will involve something similar to the "investigation" sections from Unity. Since he was never actually caught in real life, the idea of him being shanked by an assassin fits in with his sudden vanishing I suppose.

I quite liked Unity until Ubisoft completely broke it with the patch that was supposed to fix things. :fp: That said, it was seriously flawed.

The main issue is whether they can get this thing to actually run in a playable state. 30pfs? Fine, if you need to do it but lock that gooseberry fool down and keep it stable for christ's sake. If you are going to aim at a low frame rate the least you can do is make it stable. In game when quick decisions and reactions are supposed to be important, skipping out entire animations on screen and visible latency is inexcusable.

I have to say, I am kind of disappointed they did not follow through from the last game and do the Napoleonic wars with Arno.
