To my knowledge nobody has got close to 9.58 since Bolt set it, not even the man himself. I think the fastest we'll see in a fortnight is about 9.75

I've got nothing against Blake but if it's not Bolt then I hope it's Gay, seems like a top guy and he deserves something for being insanely good but around at the wrong time.

If the weather stays this crap, you'll be absolutely right. If there was to be anything mega-quick, it's need to be a nice, balmy, still evening. Also, I've not heard if the track is meant to be quick or not? The better/faster tracks are usually a touch harder, which comes after a bit of use.

The times he does make me cry, TBH. I ran 10.9 a few years ago, just before I quit. I always liked the fact I was within a second of most international sprinters. Now it feels more like 1.5 seconds.

I just found out I'm going to miss the 100m final because I'll be flying back from Florida. Gutted isn't the word

I hope Jamaica can put it together in the 4x100m relay. Powell, Blake and Bolt. We could be in for something utterly ridiculous.

Makes the 200m final more interesting knowing that I'm going to be there in person. :D

Just finished watching the 50 Greatest Olympic moments thing. BBC3 productions really are rather annoying, having 25 year olds comment on stuff that happened over 30 years ago, like they were there, is stupid. It was pretty entertaining though, here's hoping London can produce some magic

My mate has been watching Bolt train at Brum Uni. Says he looks out of sorts.

I'm calling it: Blake to win. I shall be sticking a cheeky pound or two on to that effect, too.

I'm not sure I trust your mate to judge when a world class 100m runner is out of sorts. That said, all the signs point to the 100m record being untouchable at these games.

Fair enough, I didn't provide enough info. My mate is my former sprint training partner, now a sports scientist who works on the elite athletics programme at the University.

Checked the odds on Blake, but he's only 5/2 for the win, so probably not really worth it. I agree, though, the WR is, unfortunately, probably out of bounds.

I think the best money would be on accumulators.

I'd go for;

Blake 100m
Green 400mh
Rutherford long jump
Super Mo 5000m

edit

149/1

Bolt's come out today and admitted he's only 95% fit... ;)

Still, 95% of awesome is still awesome, I guess.

I like that. Not totally sold on Rutherford, mind, I assume it's him that's bumped those odds right up?

I just got a feeling.....

He's on top form at moment, and I think home crowd can make him fly.

He is currently 4/1 to win.

I don't think Dai Greene is in top form either.

He set a PB earlier this month. He will probably have to set a new British record to beat Culson though.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Really, maybe I'm thinking of someone else. I'm sure there was one British Athlete who was the favourite but has been surpassed in the last 6 months

That 200m WR is so good I don't think it'll be broken for a very long time.

Blakes not too far off it. 100m record seems likely to stay for longer.
