Hang on...you're saying that hashtags and altered FB profile pictures DON'T make a difference? :?

I'm so strawberry floating sick of these banana splits.

I also don't want to open Facebook because I'm not ready to see what the conspiracy theorists have in line for me this time. I'll check them out later :fp:.

Terrorist known to be a 31-year-old Franco-Tunisian man, born in Tunisia and already known to police for theft and violence.

Another disgusting attack. Waiting for the stern Facebook response now of temporary profile pic overlays. That will show those terrorists. :fp:

Luckily my in laws left the Bastille celebrations early last night.

They only found out about it this morning. Heading to Nice in two weeks myself.

Such an absolute gut punch for the French.

The key here is where that truck, loaded with weaponry, has driven from. If it has come from outside of France, unchecked, Europe just cannot continue with this borderless philosophy. The world has changed. If it means being stuck in a queue so be it.

I never had a problem with border checks before to be fair.

It will be interesting to know where the weapons came from as unlike the US, guns are not readily available in Europe so they must have been brought in from outside one would imagine.

Not sure "the key" is where the weapons are from at all, or whether it supports the arguments against a border less EU.

Pretty sure not many people are thinking about that right now.

Apparently the rifles inside the truck were fake, and the grenade inactive.

A horrible story to go to bed thinking about last night. I'm torn between supporting all the messages of solidarity, love, and for us all to be kind to each other, while wondering when are we going to man up and carpet-bomb the strawberry float out of Islamic State. Which of our political leaders, following Iraq, are ever going to have the will to actually DO anything?

How would carpet bombing a location thousands of miles away stop someone getting their hands on a truck and driving it towards pedestrians in Nice?

In his first speech, the utterly useless Hollande has already said they're now going to increase bombing in that region.

In terms of border controls, Italy have announced in the last hour tightened border controls at three road crossings into France and at train terminals between the two countries. Which begs the question why they're not permanently in place.

According to a terrorism expert from King's College speaking to BBC News, Nice is apparently another part of France that has a long history of jihadist radicalisation, with dozens of people having joined ISIS; 'a jihadist breeding ground’.

Lack of integration seems to be another big problem in both Belgium and France that also needs addressing. ISIS need to be taken out in Syria and that region, but that won't solve these more localised issues.

The security services will be, that's what KK was referring to I believe. I don't know about you, but I certainly want to know more about where the attack originated from. Was it a domestic lone attacker or something from ISIS.

Surely instead of carpet bombing places like Syria they should be looking into and clearing out gooseberry fool house places like Molenbeek where it's well known a lot of those banana splits reside there.....

It's harder to be radicalised through the internet and social media by an organisation thousands of miles away, when they've been blown to smithereens?

See, this is the Catch-22. Yes, that should happen. But the impact on relations with Muslims in France would be harsh. So it's very difficult to see what can actually be done without there being negative consequences. Action or inaction: both lead to gooseberry fool happening, which is why the terrorists, unfortunately, are in the box seat.
