Nightmarish.

Not that they're related, but between Dallas shootings and this, it's worrying how easy it seems for some nutcase to go on a real-life GTA rampage.

The smoke is just from fireworks catching fire after hitting a truck. Basically an accident totally unrelated to the attack.

So many people on Twitter leaping on the 'this is why we're leaving the EU' bandwagon. I'm sure Trump will be there shortly too.

This is the one type of attack you can't stop.

As if social media isn't gooseberry fool enough as it is, when events like this happen you always get people rushing to post graphic videos and pictures, when there's absolutely no need to. Rolling news coverage is a disgrace as well, as always.

Horrible to think but surely its only a short matter of time until some serious gooseberry fool like this hits a UK city...frightening times.

Indeed, this attitude is baffling -- as if the EU has anything to do with some nutter with a lorry going mental.

The fact people who are there they can actually video the stuff on their phones is pretty mind blowing as well.

As if Muslim relations and racism in France wasn't bad enough already.

"This will be Boris Johnson's first diplomatic incident to deal with as Secretary"

Absolutely horrible. A friend of mine who works in Nice has thankfully confirmed he is fine, and currently not in the city, so that's a relief, but it's horrifying the way someone can attack a public celebration like this.

Yeah...can imagine there would have been a lot of kids there as well with it being fireworks and stuff. Shocking.

Sky News are currently jumping the shark; tying this horrific attack to the Brexit vote and worries about how intelligence sharing will work post-Brexit. Also taking the opportunity, even as it beams live pictures in from Nice, of putting the boot into Boris Johnson. Sometimes, I despair.

Whilst it's not exactly a ridiculous assumption this is indeed an attack by a Muslim, has it actually been confirmed yet?

Also, why does twitter auto play videos? Was looking at comments then saw a very graphic video. I have a bit of tolerance to violence, but surely you should have to click it to play :?

Don't think it has been confirmed but it appears to be a very strong assumption so I'd imagine something must be known.

Yeah, I've had a couple of people I follow posting up very graphic videos...not really sure why people feel compelled to do it really.

Human beings are weirdly curious, especially when mortality is involved.

There's no reason intelligence sharing shouldn't work nigh on exactly the same it does now; everyone would be stupid to close ranks because we're leaving, none more so because MI5 and MI6 are the most sophisticated in the European region. In fact intelligence in the likes of Brussels and France seems to be something they're really struggling with.

Yeah I get that....a few years back I went through a bit of an ogrish/liveleak phase and saw some pretty grim videos but I never actually felt the compulsion to share them with people. I dunno so much but on Twitter I sometimes get the feeling that people are just trying to show they can stomach such stuff or whatever. Regarding your original point I've noticed that it is only the occasional video that autoplays for me....can you change the option in settings?

Death toll now in excess of 70.
