Actually they do, terrorists can just walk from the Northern Territory to South Australia and there is nothing to stop them. :x

When did news outlets start reporting stories before any kind of facts came in?

There were two hijackers involved, who threatened to bomb the plane, according to initial reports.

In my defence, when I posted that, BBC only could say a plane was being diverted and it came with a hijack title :shifty:

Everything is now just like one never ending episode of 24 & James Bond.

Well that's one way to avoid passport control.

I recall camps being set up in Greece that seem to be similair, but I take it people can just leave those whenever they want since they are already in the EU, right?

Seems a similair system would work best in these cases, but maybe the sheer number of migrants into Europe would make that more difficult to do. I know in Australia's case a lot of the migrants have been complaining about living conditions, but it seems like a much better solution than just letting them go and hoping they leave once the deportation order comes in.

Since about 1997, when 24-hour news channels became a thing.

Yeah, Nauru is the place where 12 years old commit suicide. It's basically a concentration camp.

Employees aren't even allowed to speak out about the abuses that go on there, thanks to the Border Force Act, though some have spoken out in defiance of it.

Hmmm if only there were some sort of middle ground between some sort of underfunded prison run by a for profit entity, and just letting these people go when they arrive in Europe and hoping that they leave when they are asked to.

Too bad such a thing us impossible right?
