The implication being that popular opinion is hardly a great gauge of quality, even less so at a party where you're only going to be picking songs from a very limited, specific pool of song type. Different songs for different moods. You don't really think that because a song doesn't work at a party it necessarily makes it a poor song do you?

Can't think of a single song I like that I wouldn't put on at a party. Sure, there are songs I like that I wouldn't put on at some parties and some that I wouldn't put on at others. Different songs for different moods, as you say. I wouldn't put Justice on at a champagne reception, and I wouldn't put Pachelbel on at a house party.

I wouldn't put Exogenesis on anywhere, in any situation, with any crowd, of any size, because it makes me cringe and I don't appreciate being bombarded with that kind of overlong, tryhard, self-indulgent shite. 8-)

Gonna (try) save this till the album drops next week but based off its live performances, it's gotten an unsurprising very positive response. Also up on Spotify already.

That's their best track in ages. I even like the "lyric video".

That was sick.

I don't care what any of you miserable strawberry floaters are saying, I was smiling through that whole track, add the radio 1 big weekend performance of Reapers and the fact little audio bites keep playing in my head and this is shaping up to be the best album since BH&R.

This track is so strawberry floating good. Finally a really good mix of proper heavy stuff, meandering basslines, eastern/melodic minor/mixolydian sounding scales and the ultra slick production from the last 2 albums.

Leaked.

Initials thoughts on the new stuff: The Handler and Defector are awesome. Revolt is insanely cheesy and poppy but I quite like it. Aftermath is a nice slow guitar jam. The Globalist builds superbly to a pretty insane climax but it transitions into the final piano centric act far too soon, shame. I have no idea what to think about Drones.

The first half of the album until the Handler is over is probably my favourite run of Muse tracks ever, if you look past Starlight 2 (Mercy). The second half is probably the worst ever. Defector's lyrics are worse than the YouTube Comments on a video about Chemtrails and the illuminati, sounding like something you'd expect a 13 year old to write, and Revolt is without a doubt the most awful song they've ever released. Yep, even worse than Big Freeze. As for the Globalist, it takes ages to build up, wastes an awesome metal section that lasts for all of about two minutes before being presented with the bastard child of Explorers and United States of Eurasia.

Such an inconsistent band. Album is better than T2L and Resistance, but I'm not sure that's really saying much.

Well that's just nonsense.
