Thanks for the guidance, Trelliz. I've still got the "level 1" harpoon so I can't yet pull down medium or heavy items. I only had a look around Jeet's base for the first time yesterday and I hadn't realised that there are ammo tables and stuff to build! I'm gonna need to collect a *lot* of scraps!

Absolute bargain! I still don't get why console games cost so much more than their PC versions :-(.

Woop! It's been a lot of fun so far, man. Looking forward to seeing what you think of it.

I've only just realised that the game has a terrific photo mode. It's really quite neat, with an array of tools to help you create excellent shots. Check out my posts in the PSN GRcade community to see some examples :-) .

Got this a couple of days ago (God bless free promo copies :toot: ) and had an hour or so to play. Seems alright so far, controls are a bit gooseberry fool (circle to fire..U WOT M8) but it looks pretty and I can see the car combat being a lot of fun once you've got some more upgrades going.

You carry like 3 shots of ammunition and it doesn't play like a shooter, circle to fire is perfectly acceptable.

Jump should be on circle not on a trigger.

Chumbucket's "Please... just, please... don't do that again!" :-). The game really delivers a lot of fun gameplay.

Didn't you have the harpoon gun pulling the tower, Ad?

Yeah, I pulled it down, the cable came back in and it decided to endlessly spawn gooseberry fool under my car.

I'm still having fun with this... it's a cracking game. Alongside the environments being huge and looking really good, the fighting feels really crunchy and intuitive. I love how the game puts sound through the controller when firing a shotgun or making a "finishing" attack... it sounds so forceful and meaty.

I busted up an enemy camp this evening and filmed a bit of the fighting for you guys to check out:

Finally got back into this after an extended break for MGS V.

Still brilliant fun, almost fully upgraded one base. I feel like my side missions obsession over the main story will lead to me being over powered. However it'll stil be a very fun game. Car handles fantastic and the combat reminds me of Shadow of Mordor.

Wish my image sig would work

I'm not sure whether I'm angry or upset... probably more upset, to be honest.

"What is the cause of this pain?", I hear you cry. Well, Avalanche has released a patch for the game that has ruined - **RUINED** - the picture functionality. Previously one was able to pause the game at any point, pan the camera around, add or remove effects, and zoom in and out for a huge distance. Now... well, you can only zoom out from Max for about three feet. The function has gone from being stunningly fantastic to being frustratingly pointless.

Why, Avalanche, why?!? Why have you crushed my apocalyptic dreams? Why have you stamped upon photographic glory?

I suspect it's because the photo mode had the potential of being a "cheat" device. In the game you have to attack camps and, using the photo mode, you could pause the game and then go and peer into the camp before actually stepping into it :-). Yeah, it was kinda cheating... but so what? It was fun! Now we're in the situation where one of the best photo modes in gaming - yep, it was that good - has been reduced to a wrecked shell of its former capabilities.

Mad Max is still my personal Game of the Year... but I am now disappoint.

Yes! Yeeeeeeeeeees!

Now I can only assume that I did something daft - or I hit upon a bug - but photo mode is working again! Brilliant stuff!

If you're a PS4 player, why not check out the GRcade community page and take a peek? I *think* most of the guys there get a little fed up with me postin' em but... well, I really enjoy playing around with the superb photo functions in this game :-).

This is surprisingly decent. £11 and I'm well chuffed. Feels just like I'm in the new movie.

It is a great game, probably one of the best I played this year.

Finally... it's happening! Mad Max is gonna get the credit it deserves and storm the stage in a ball of twisted metal and fire to claim the GRcade GOTY title! Help make this happen! Ensure that Max yanks the trophy from Skippy's grasp and yells across the wasteland "I. Am. Max!".

Failing that, at least give it a go :-).

Oh, and no, I don't work for Avalanche Studios now. I am still at Nintendo.

I like it when he limps. Also when his hand hovers over his shotgun.

Nice little touches.

I've just passed seventy-five hours of gameplay time on this. That's the kind of figure that, during the past decade or so, I've only exceeded on PES and Fallout 3.

Although I'm well ranked-up (Road Warrior level 30*) I think I'm only just over half-way through the missions. The enemies (people and vehicles) have got noticeably tougher but I'm sticking with it.

* The in-game help suggests that there are eleven ranking grades for Max, with each containing ten levels. I dunno how I've got to level thirty on the top grade :o .

I've been in "completist" mode... after around eighty hours I'm currently 62% into the game. I'm trying to do *everything* in each area before moving on.

> Chumbucket's area: Everything collected; all sites found and cleared; all enemies beaten.
> Jeet's area: Everything collected; all sites found and cleared; all enemies beaten.

> Pink Eye's area: Four of five zones completed so far!
> Deep Friah's area: Only to be started once Pink Eye completed!

I haven't been this much into a game since Fallout 3 / PES. Good times!

Oh, and if anyone is playing on PS4, I've worked out how to avoid the photo mode camera bug. When you're in a base camp, rather than fast-traveling straight to a location, just exit the camp and then fast-travel. This will avoid the photo mode camera becoming stuck... which is a cool thing as it's the best photo mode that I've experienced :-).
