Finally saw this tonight. I hate to say it but I thought that was a huge disappointment. First thoughts are that ultron wasn't the last but intimidating and have every other line be an attempting to be humourous really started to grate.

It'sbecause part of his personality is based off of Tony Stark who in these films is exactly the same. I think it differs in the comics since he mixes with Hank Pym IIRC and he's more heartless and less like Tony who is an asshole in a different way.

Do we really need to use spoilers still to talk about this film?

He reminded me if C3PO in Attack of the Clones.

So yes, it was alright. It was great fun while I watched it, and there was plenty of great character moments, but the overall plot was a mess. Once it was over, me and the missus spent half an hour just asking 'wait, so, hold on, why did...' and then mentioning pretty much any plot development in second half of the movie. Plus, his brilliant introduction aside (and it was brilliant) Ultron was a naff baddie. Weirdly, I think he had far too much personality to pull off the cold, logical AI he was supposed to be. His done-to-death reasoning for being a baddie didn't match his one liners at all.

What the hell happened related to this film to cause Joss Whedon to quit Twitter?

Read up on some of it and apparently it's anger over her being a "damsel in distress". Maybe they need reminding that she was pregnant during filming which would have massively affected what she could do.

It's so noticeable that her shots are selective too...

Probably people getting salty over her imprisonment and needing to be saved, even if she ended up helping out a fair bit anyways...

Also the fact she was the one who contacted the avengers somehow to say where she was, so she didn't need "saving" as such, just someone to open the door.

Yea, most of the outrage I've seen is to do with the line about her being a monster due to being infertile.

Which, to be fair, is strawberry floating awful writing.

I thought the point was that she was a monster because she essentially "chose" to make herself infertile (Though I doubt the Red Room people would have given her much say in the matter) not because she is infertile?

I must admit, I was coming back from the loo during the exact exchange so someone with a better memory of the exact script could clarify, but I was under the impression that she was left infertile as a result of the experiments done on her, not out of her choice.

But either way, whether she chose it or not, equating being infertile with being a monster is still pretty strawberry floating horrific writing given the character of Black Widow established up to that point.

The sterilisation was part of the "graduation" for the training program she was in.
