His new Axe makes his old hammer look like gooseberry fool too.

Hopefully part 2 will have some genuine consequences and people will die and stay dead. Otherwise the cinematic universe will end up like the comic one with every event resulting in a reset button a few months later.

Might go and see it for a third time on Wednesday. It's s very easy watch.

I really liked Ebony Maw, he was creepy and very well done. His other followers were terrible though. So weak and poor at fighting even low level heroes.

I wonder though are we all missing a bit of a trick. When Thanos snapped his fingers did he just create an alternate universe where all those who vanished including him went, leaving the others like cap behind in the original universe?

I completely forgot about Korg! Hopefully he was busy printing pamphlets when Thanos arrived.

I need to see the start again to see if there really were any escape pods fleeing. If so I really can’t see character wise why Valkyrie would be on one, Korg I could see.

Loved it, my favourite line was 'It's like a pirate had a baby with an angel' and there was some line about the most powerful man in the galaxy, what 'Kevin Bacon'

Surreal to see Edinburgh and the train station, noticed the we deep fry your kebabs poster in the window. Couldn't spot Durham Cathedral though :|

Didn't like Dinklage's character; the CGI on making him a giant looked off.

I liked it, but I can't think of how they'll do the next one in a way that doesn't makes this one feel pointless if they're going to undo the click. Was it done well in the comics?

I don’t think it will be pointless, it seems integral to the storyline to me as Thanos achieved what he wanted. I’m expecting more real deaths though. The assumption is all the clicked away people will just come back but we don’t know for certain as they could be in an alternate universe rather than technically dead at the moment so maybe not all will come back as in bar one maybe two.

It was quite different in the comic (Infinity Gauntlet), Thanos was just power mad in that, he ended up turning Nebula into a walking corpse, when he'd defeated all enemies (including celestials) he sheds his physical form, Nebula is still around however and uses that opportunity to steal the Gauntlet from him, at which point she undoes everything he'd done with it.

There are other bits which wouldn't necessarily make sense in the MCU, the whole fight against Thanos for the gauntlet is lead by Adam Warlock, who hasn't really appeared in the films yet (although the sarcophagus at the end of Guardians 2 probably contains a version of the character) and he ends up with the gauntlet at the end of the story.

HailToTheKingBaby! wrote:I was thinking that the choice of people who "died" towards the end was odd as it's mostly the newer or smaller characters.. people like Black Panther and Spiderman who as others have said, you know are coming back as they have films coming up. I'm pretty sure Guardians 3 was mentioned too at one point?

Whereas the survivors are mostly the original ones who you were sort of expecting might die like Iron Man, Cap, Thor etc..

I wonder if they've went down this route so that the original Avengers can be the focus in the next one. Let those characters (and actors) go out in a blaze of glory before possible big roster changes take place. That would be fitting.

I don't know if I'm missing something obvious, but was there a reason why the Hulk was suddenly having 'performance issues'? Was it simply the act of taking a beating from Thanos?

He was scared of Thanos I guess. I'd be surprised if Black Widow isn't used in the sequel (getting hurt) to spur on the big guy to go true world breaker and get some much needed revenge.

That could be decent. Is it possible that the shot from the trailer with the Hulk fighting in Wakanda might actually be from the next Avengers film after some time jiggery-pokery takes place and the battle is rerun?

Yeah I think we'll see Super Saiyan Hulk bringing Iron Man and Loki's game changer line of We have a Hulk full circle.

Could even develop it into a World War Hulk movie afterwards.

They have said there is a sort of hulk trilogy with Thor 3, avengers 3 and 4. It's his character arc. Most likely he will end up saving a lot of people and dying a hero.

I'd love them to resolve avengers 4 with an alternative dimension and maestro hulk, old man Logan and scarlet spider coming in to join the fight against Thanos.

I think the dimension that Wasp's mum is trapped in will also come into play in avengers part 4.

I thought I saw Valkyrie to the right of Thor in the opening scenes.

I also wasn't a huge fan of the film, I much preferred Thor 3 and Spider man Homecoming. Don't get me wrong I didn't hate it, but I still think it felt it was a low stakes punch-up fest. .

I didn’t notice her but I could easily have missed it. I’ve read a couple of places that Thor said in the film that Thanos killed half the Asgardians on the ship. So it suggests that her and Korg could have survived. I couldn’t image her character though agreeing to jump into an escape pod rather than fight.

Absolutely loved it

Only slight problems were what happened to some of the supporting characters and why did Doctor Strange give up the stone but presumably these things will be answered at some point.

Everything worked for me, I have no idea what the ending was about but I guess everyone is in the same boat with that one.

I said to my wife as we left that it must be how people felt leaving Empire Strikes Back in 1980. So glad it's only one year for the conclusion! Loved it. Just absolutely non-stop from start to finish, and so many awesome parts. I don't think you could say it dragged at all.

The general consensus seems to be that he gave up the time stone as that was what he did in the only outcome that he saw in the vision where they succeeded. I’m not 100% sure that’s going to be the case as why did they bother with that other plan to try to remove the gauntlet from thanos’s hand. However stuff like that often happens in films with no explanation so there’s a good chance that will be the explanation in the next film.

When you say you had no idea what the ending was about, do you mean the after credits ending where fury called for Captain Marvel or do you mean where 50% of the characters faded away (possibly just to another dimension) because Thanos won?

Fantastic film! Loved every single moment

One question I have though, why did the gauntlet appear to be melting after the snap? Too much power for the gauntlet to handle?

That was so good. Was watching through my hands at the end as they all started to fade away. Spiderman's departure was particularly harrowing  :(

I cheered irl at captain America's entrance. Such a freaking badass.

Only bad thing was Cucumberpatch's American accent again. There must have been someone better for Dr Strange.

Reading some interesting theories on Fury's SOS message to Captain Marvel. It looked like a pager with added tech meaning the last time Fury and Denvers saw it each other was back in the 90s and this was a "only use this when you need me because I'm off planet fighting in the Kree - Skrull war for the foreseeable future" sort of deal. We know the Captain Marvel film is set in the 90s so all will be revealed obviously.

What powers does she have? Presumably outclasses the rest of the Avengers?
