I'm sure more adverts than ever are being displayed/shown on various on-demand services, but I certainly wouldn't say people are watching them.

Companies pay out big money now for those willing to install a piece of software to monitor what you're clicking/viewing on your computer and phone. Of course by doing so your habits automatically change...

'New study reveals NOBODY watches porn online. EVER.'

Nah, it was an internal TV industry one. Its not the advertising industry so theres no reason or needed preception to lie. It was just about TV watching habits in general.

The other really interesting fact is we as a nation are watching as much TV as ever, and the rate has been consistent since they started measuring it in the sixties. It may feel we watch less with falling audiences, more channels, Netflix etc, but we watch the same amount as before, we just watch it in different ways.

That's not particularly surprising. Aside from social media (which can be "done" whilst watching TV, thereby lessening its impact), it's not like we've had a new wave of non-tv entertainment take people away from their TVs. If we'd seen a sustained period of new technologies invade our homes then I'd have been surprised to see TV audiences stay the same, but as it is...meh.

And before you suggest it - videogames have been around for decades so I wouldn't classify them as a new invading technology. I've had a Playstation under my TV since 1995!

The Sun and bingo, two staples of underclass culture.

Every time mum turns the TV on during the day, she's bombarded with ads for funeral plans.

Certainly cheers her up.

There have been a heap of them on trains too, it's as if they are expecting a lot of people to start pegging it soon .

The way things are going they would be better served putting them on the front of trains.

That Tia Maria ad with the 'diverse' people in it.

The ad itself is fairly crap anyway but the song on it sounds like someone doing an extremely bad impersonation of Marilyn Manson.

Probably cheaper than paying for the real thing.

I've noticed a lot of ads changing music after a while too, there's an IKEA one that had a Jack White song on it but now they've changed it to a different song that sounds vaguely similar (in tone and pace at least).

I assume it's something to do with licensing and royalties costing too much.

I can't figure out why this thread died. Don't all us British people constantly discuss TV ads?

I basically never watch anything with adverts these days. Almost all of my TV watching is Netflix, iPlayer or Prime. I don't miss adverts at all!

Slightly pissed off that Amazon have started trying to slip adverts for their own programs in before you watch something on Prime now. No, strawberry float off I don't want to watch some shitty documentary about Man City, let me watch Buffy! :x

Those strawberry floating McDonalds McCafe adverts boil my piss. Creating a false image of independent coffee shops as smug and superior in order to sell their shitty coffee to banana splits. Sure, coffee is expensive in some of these hipster cafes. But don't give me this gooseberry fool about them scoffing that someone doesn't know what a flat white is or that they will try to bore you with science. It's just so Brexit. All McDonalds adverts are disgusting, which is appropriate considering the absolute dreck they sell.

That's exactly what they are though. Nothing false about it at all. We've about 17 of these pretentious, hipster cafés on Cheltenham's high street alone.

McDonald's are bang on the money. And their coffee is better than the lukewarm cows spunk these hipster joints sell for the price of a small mortgage, not too mention you'll be served by some banana split in skinny jeans that are turned up to the knee and wearing brogues with no socks.
