 Fantastic. Who was the Alpha that game then? And were they the "The Go..." MSN-person?

No, The Go was Zenigame, whose MSN and forum name at the time was "The Goat".

The Alpha was SuperKing.

Staydead still salty

There was no "bullshit immunity circle". I think we had a witchdoctor role (Zellery?) but he was limited to 1 or 2 uses of his power.

Dear DML,

Can I remind you that my husband was on his DEATH BED..and my last words to my HUSBAND could have been about werewolfs that didn’t exist.

Kind Regards

I had so much fun writing the MechaPutin stuff.

And killing Drummy was hilarious, I had the rules of the game and the questions written out before the main game had even started. I felt guilty killing him off, but it was his own fault.

Those answers are bullshit. Seriously Cobra over Hunter? Alabama, Alaska, North/South Carolina, North Dakota and strawberry floating IOWA over the home of Las Vegas?! No World Cup winning Gordon Banks and current goalkeeper Joe Hart?!?!?!

I've done a lot of thinking and I'm not ready to accept that you'd be enough of a banana split to manipulate PPM and I like this. If you have, then I think you've taken the game too far. There's lying to win the game, and then there's manipulating your own family to win a game.

Furiosum wasn't showing as online last night, and his profile still shows that he was last online at 8:37 last night.

BUT he's online right now, and he's read a PM I sent him.

How has that happened? What makes the "last active" thing update?

An amusing sidenote in all this was my regular meetings at mine with PPM in real life. Every Thursday we meet up to play FIFA, and I struggle to lie to him. Knowing I had this big wolfy secret was hilarious. He would tell me all his theories about the game, we talked about the e-mail...until at one point he just said 'I gues you're right...it must've been PsychicSykes'.

We sat and nodded in agreement.

PPM, I apologise, but every single time I was texting on my phone, or went to the toilet when you came round, I was PMing wolf kills. Sorry bud. :simper:

I forget what year it was, but the best game I ever had was when I was the alpha.

The wolves and I were in everyone's faces from the very get go, and we only lost one wolf. I think it was Clarkman, but only because of some strange love connection with a villager.

Anyhoo.....much fun was had from seeing villagers turn on each other.

I really loved my face-offs with StayDead, genuinely some of my favourite moments here full stop.

The AYAM game I was just winding him up and he went ballistic. The way I saw it at the time I was either onto something and he was panicking, or he would only go more mental if I was wrong. Both were good results as far as I was concerned.

The AYAV one was brilliant. I genuinely recognised it was him after the first defense post. An innocent person would probably have just ignored me. Then he got more and more frantic. I really think the play by him to pretend I was a vigi as well was a brilliant move. I dont know if he thought of it or was told to do it, but it poisoned a lot of people against me. If this is the game Im thinking of I was in touch with Mori throughout, right from day one, and he was agreeing with me and fighting my corner. Turned out he was a wolf all along which really threw me for a loop. I cant recall the exact reasoning but I dont think I ever passed him any details of the people in the seer circle because something just didnt seem right.

The last game he was being insane too, but I knew it was because he had been reading the tactics sites and probably playing other games in the mean time. As soon as pro-village came out I knew he had to be innocent, he was just trying really hard to be the meta king.

Good times.

Am I the only player to be a mayor and get a wolf kill on day one, twice? :shifty:

339 Dan.s until Christmas! wrote:This, and 'Herbi was the Alpha' are two pre-GRcade events, aren't they? So there's no thread to go back to - for those of us that weren't there, we hear these things referred to all the time, but we don't know exactly what they mean. Were Bladeforce the original secret circle, then? And was Herbi the alpha? Or no?

A very loose history:

Herbi’s the strawberry floating Alpha: It’s AYAW III on the old Future-run GamesRadar forum. It’s about 7 days in and the status of the game (from memory) is as follows. Team Villager started with 3 seers who incredibly had managed to find one other via seering (petercrisp, TAP, Roonmastor). As a result they co-ordinated their nightly inspections, however, before finding one another, they all had a common suspicion of one player: Herbi. This was largely in part down to Herbi’s reputation at the time in respect of how he played the game. That is to say that he played in a pretty outlandish and overzealous way, posting things which could be readily disproved by a number of people and also posting a lot of blatant lies. So then, the existing suspicion on him was only compounded when werewolf JimmyInAShed sent a screenshot of something (I don’t recall what) to someone who happened to be in this seer alliance (but who wasn’t a seer) and his taskbar showed he was in an MSN conversation with myself (werewolf) and someone whose MSN name begun with ‘The Go’ with the rest being obscured. Herbi’s MSN name at the time was ‘The Good’.

However, Herbi had already been seered and came back as a villager. Taking a punt, the seers decided to seer Jimmy. He came back as a Werewolf. Naturally this led the seers to believe that their instincts could be right after all and that Herbi could actually be a werewolf, but if this was to be true he would have to be The Alpha. The next day the seers needed someone who was electable as Mayor to stick Herbi in the noose. I don’t remember who they got to do it but for whatever reason, Hexx, another player who was under massive amounts of suspicion was imprisoned as well. The lynch vote ending up being a tie (and for this vote there was a twist that the votes would be made public after). Herbi ended up, IIRC, making up some lie about Hexx which saved him on the re-vote. Us werewolves were thrilled about this because it meant that the biggest distraction in the game lived on for another day.

The next day, knowing that the thread needed a wolf kill to lift morale after a week of misses, the fact that Jimmy had been seered as a wolf was leaked out. He was subsequently lynched and the villagers celebrated. I was totally unaware at this time that the aforementioned screenshot existed and rather unfortunately I was seered that night and killed the following day. So, to recap, thanks to this screenshot, two wolves had been killed in two days and the seer network were 100% utterly and totally convinced that they’d identified the Alpha. After I died, Corazon and I were chatting on MSN as we had been throughout the game. Obviously I wasn’t going to confirm or deny anything that he may have suspected about my wolfy comrades but I was certainly curious to know what he thought about other players in the game. So we went through a few people, I reeled off some names and eventually I got to Herbi. Most of the answers he had given me were “I think this of this person but not sure” type answers. But when pressed about Herbi, his answer of “Herbi’s the strawberry floating Alpha.” was presented with such belief and conviction, yet was so massively wrong.

I thought it was funny so I print screened it and stuck it in my signature. So whilst I was no longer posting in the game thread I was still posting around the forum, and it created some unintentional hysteria. People started noticing it and those that at that point may have been on the fence about it were now becoming convinced, one by one, until 24 hours later, the night after I died, the seer network finally managed to get Herbi lynched. Cora had the honour of lynching the guy that was pretty much universally accepted as being the Alpha Wolf. Herbi by this time had accepted his fate and had stopped denying this assertion as it was clear there was no escape for him. And so, the time came. When it was revealed that, he was in fact NOT the Alpha Wolf, but just a simple VILLAGER, there were pages and pages of responses, some shocked, some confused, some angry, some crying. People just had no idea what had happened.

I really wish I could say I was part of the whole Alpha thing and that I remember the wind up or annoyance/frustration or just hillarity of it all. But to be honest the whole thing went entirely over my head.

I don't remember having a reputation for posting outlandish stuff or just making gooseberry fool up. I think at the time I was just perceived as someone who knew how the game worked because I was one of maybe only 4 or 5 people who'd actually taken part in them all up to that point.

The Hexx thing rings a vague bell but I can't remember just spouting lies to get myself out of the trap or anything. To me it just seemed like a regular case of people convincing themselves someone was guilty rather than anything else. I never follow the threads after I'm out so the meltdown afterwards would have completely bypassed me.

I think I only realized it had been considered a big deal at the end of the game and then in the subsequent games to date where it's become a thing.

Probably an appropriate metaphor that the thing I'm most known for on here is something I hav e next to no recollection of.

Until I read the bracketed part I was like "aww :( " but yeah, I'd love to get a proper role in one of these and really strawberry float with ME(or Drumstick, but he seems to have graduated to game runner) in vengeance for past misdeeds.

There was certainly no immunity circle. IIRC the protector role could only use his protection a maximum of something like 3 times in the game.

The fact that we totally turned the game on its head was down to the fact that, rather sensibly, the vigis had held onto their bullets, and were able to link up with one another thanks to Dan being outed in the thread as Van Helsing. After that there was a day or two spent theorising potential strategies and collating everything we knew. Eventually the game reached a point where for us it was do or die and we decided to go out with... A bang.

Fortunately we hit the target more often than not with our shots but that was all down to the hard work we did behind the scenes which continued all the way to the end.

Van Helsing only had two bullets which he could use to protect himself or instead use the bullets to vigi kill. Normal vigis only had one bullet.

Bladeforce was on here, I think it was the Are you a Bluehat game. Goat was seer and he managed to survive for a long long time. On day 1 I PMed like every person in the game, "I know your secret". Goat thought I'd worked out he was seer and seered me on like day 1.

When Nood told me I'd been seered I guessed straight away Goat was the seer but didn't tell Nood I knew so if Goat died I wouldn't look guilty. When several members of Bladeforce died quickly afterwards (including Nood I think) I PMed Goat directly and we restarted Bladeforce from the ashes.

I think Goat was seer in The Saboteur as well and was MVP there too.

I think I got seered and died pretty early on but when I'm a wolf I try to play how I would if I were human. Getting a wolf lynched made you an obvious human so I would have defended you and tried to partner up either way.

Yes it was a great year. AYAW II. The first Wolf Team win.

You were the first Mayor! I was your Lieutenant. I remember our msn chats. Our main tactic was to pin Herbi as the Alpha mastermind. He was convinced you were a wolf and noone believed him.

Cosmo
Clarkman

I just had a quick read through of a few pages from 60 onwards of AYAM. The sheer amount of ridicule and abuse StayDead receives after being lynched as the Good Moderator James is outrageous!

BLADEFORCE was a legendary secret group that turned the game on its head.

Original lineup I think was myself, Denster, Kanbei, Mori, Drumstick, Karl, N*** and G*** the Seer. Apologies if I have missed anyone out, it was a damn long time ago.

Denster sent out actual Bladeforce badges after the game.

Bladeforce II in the following game was a complete disaster as all but 2 members died within the space of 3 days.

Bladeforce III was hilarious for the 10 hours or so Parksey spent compiling a huge dossier only for it to be in the game where there were no wolves.

There was no Bladeforce IV.

On a separate note, in every other game my destiny seems somehow entwined with TAP.

I appear to have all my PMs from the Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr' you a Werewolf game.
