That could make sense. Perhaps they were involved in the game design/setup or were involved in picking who would be the traitors.

Then again the other person who placed themselves at the bottom intentionally was Ivan and he seems to have a pretty strong background in social deduction games so perhaps it's just a tell for people who've played before to undersell themselves from the off

I'm still only on the first episode but I feel like the optimal moves for the Traitors is to get rid of any players that possess the charisma or personality to corral a group of players together and harness the power of the many. Or be recruited into such a group, kill the leader off and assume control moving forward.

From what I remember from AYAW games of the past as a wolf you need to avoid being seen as leading a witch hunt and instead be careful to bandwagon onto witch-hunts already in train. Pointing accusatory fingers at ringleaders when they inevitably have the wrong target while leaving them alive as long as possible to take the heat also works.

Edit: God I loved my run as an alpha years ago

I thought the shield was a good idea (despite them hanging Tom anyway) until the Traitors just decided to kill someone from the other team to avoid hitting a member with the shield, so essentially giving immunity to that whole team.

Three episodes in and I don't see how the Faithful can win. They just voted out the one of the few who was able to communicate and evaluate situations without getting emotional.

John's a prick. No idea why he thinks continually berating Aaron when he's visibly upset is OK.

Yeah, John seemed to change once they all picked him as the most likely to be a faithful in the fairground. He seemed to take that as meaning that he was popular, and became all bullish. (Maybe it’s the editing.)

I do think it's interesting though as while they were able to analyse and evaluate they completely failed to communicate and connect with their fellow players in a way to persuade them.

In a different player base he would probably be a great player but there is a huge difference between playing with people of a similar 'skill' level and trying to persuade the masses. Its like how trying to play Werewolf on christmas day with grandparents and kids requires a quite different skill set to playing AYA on a forum even if on paper the premise should be similar :slol:

All those nobody reality TV people, plus Ryan Lochte. Might as well just be all normals.

Sort of agree, but it was mainly the "on trial" thing that just (stupidly) corralled all of the attention.

The Traitors accidentally playing optimally with the banishment of the one person with a shield

I get the impression the format is rigged by the producers so they can rebalance at will anyway, being able to add new traitors and faithful at their discretion. Probably to ensure a fixed number of episodes.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call it rigged, but they clearly have contingencies in place. I suspect the timing of the two guys being reintroduced was a result of everyone being eliminated so far being a faithful. Can’t let the traitors get too far ahead when they’re not even halfway through the series.

I think it's a failure in casting tbh, too imbalanced.

- At the start I think it was mentioned that the traitors would "possibly" get to recruit another member, presumably to bring their numbers back up if needed.
- The "on trial" mechanic took a kill away from the traitors (they only made one kill over two nights)
- The two reintroduced players as you say bolstered faithful numbers and could presumably have gone the other way if needed

As a faithful you might think if you have identified a traitor it is better not to banish them, because if you do that too early they will get replaced with an unknown traitor. Better to identify them, keep them in the game, then vote them all out for the win at the end...

It was good to see Meryl get a bit fiery when Maddy started pointing the finger at her. She’s been too nice up to now.
