I'll run my traditional one-day-only AY...?-for-the-dead-players in this subforum at some point soon. ;)

Even in death I still serve

Kind of glad I died when I did though. Lived long enough to be seen as an early trailblazer and left the good team with some solid info without having my word tainted. Also I was spending far too much time keeping track of it all. Sometimes it really is sweet release when you go.

Why does the scientist put all the "I hope you haven't opened this" notes inside the vial? What kind of scientist are you?

PUNY HUMA... strawberry float it, I can't keep that up any longer.

I actually quite liked being the Alpha as the nature of this game allowed for a hands-off approach, wouldn't want the role in a traditional AYA game though.

mcjihge2 is right it is overpowered. But then so is the effect on one of the humans.

What I loved was that you didn't even want to play the game and then ended up as the Alpha infected. Quite fitting really.

This. I look forward to breaking Cora in Smash in the near future.
Karl wrote:I have to say, I think this has been one of the best games ever on GRcade. It's a real shame it's quietened down over the last day or two, but the first 5 days were really, really excellent.

I agree. Despite the alphabet play, it's been an interesting game. It would be good if we could play something like this more regularly. TTT is a good example :shifty:

As others have said, I don't think that the alphabetical list was all that gamebreaking, especially as the game is still going. I have to confess, that I did think that Moggy made up the Alpha 2 rule but, as someone pointed out, there was a caveat in the OP from the start that the game could change, even the Alpha's identity. I remember reading this at the start but I thought that it just meant special roles like the vial holders so I forgot all about it by the time that Ironhide was eliminated.
Karl wrote:Without wishing to second guess what you're planning, I don't understand why anyone would open a vial after what the last ones have done.

The last one made two infected but it also gave the humans two special roles so it kind of balanced out. I'd open it hoping that at least some good came from it which could be used towards the human effort. You know, if I were alive.

I couldn't believe it when everyone started revealing their roles when the alphabetical list was discovered and I don't see why people are pointing out the seers now. People play the game in odd ways.

Well to be fair, if you haven't got a role and haven't made it into a special pm club, there's never much to do in these games unless you gibber away in the thread. Someone might even tell you to shut up which is as good a way as any to get involved in the game...

I guess you could say the thread has turned rather... vial-ent.

I'm not trying to pick a fight ( ;) ) but I didn't find this to be true - at least not in this game. I agree in 'traditional' AYAW? the seer circles can get a bit dull, but I had a normal role for most of my tenure in this one and I think I got out what I put in. Be active, PM people, contribute theories, try and spot patterns, ask what's going on.

Interesting, I thought the exact opposite.

That's not intended to be a criticism of the game, I just didn't see much point in pming in this version. I felt open discussion would be a better way to generate leads and information, although it all seems very cagey in there now... It was slightly different for you because you had the initial plan to verify immunes I guess.

I'm happy to admit I might have had a slightly different experience from most by virtue of getting in there early.

I would be very interested to try a game where everyone has 'something to do' and the bad guys were forced to interact with normal villagers to get things done. It would be a lot of work, but I'm thinking, for instance, that if the bad guys want to shoot someone they'd have to buy or steal a weapon from a normal villager that had one, etc. So there would be constant 'micro-events' involving different people that would all give clues or could be correlated into a larger pattern.

It would be a lot of work to run though, you're essentially talking about making it into a large scale RPG where every character in the game is a real person.

Wasn't there a game once in which we all had a special power? Or am I inventing things again?

Yeah the vigilante one was good, I was actually on the winning side for once!

I like the idea that you posted Karl but my god that would be a lot of work. AYI? is quite simple compared to that and I don't feel like I have had any free time in the last 10 days.

I was amazed that so many people survived long enough to actually win that game.
