Balatro: Roguelite Poker Deckbuilder (NSW/PC/PS/Xbox) - Out Now

I've been working through, getting one win with each deck. Up to the magic(?) deck now, the one where you start with two tarot cards. Really think this could be my favourite deck builder ever.

Still only the 1 win, had some good ones but bad run of cards and running out of discards cost me at crucial time.

So far only the blue deck win. Had a good go with yellow but gone back to try red which seems tough reading this thread.

Played about 4 hours, just realised the potential of rearranging the order you play your actual cards in depending on the joker.

E.g. If you have a joker that gives 1.5x multiplier for a club, but also one with a +4 multiplier for a heart, you want to play the heart before the club. Didn't realise you could drag the cards about before playing them! Thought they were locked in the sort order.

It took me a while to realise this as well. So I'd been wasting aces/kings with 1.5x multipliers by playing them first :fp:

And for ages I thought the tarot that changes cards left to right was useless, because I didn't realise I could rearrange the cards to make a low card into a high/face card.

Had a galaxy brain moment when I realised :lol:

Works the same with jokers too, of course! Arrange your +s to trigger before your Xs!

Mind blown. So obvious now I think about it but the level of computational maths going on at any given second meant I forgot this as soon as I learned it (it’s very early in tutorial when I didn’t really know what I was doing)

Anyway just had my second win and did it with red deck. Supernova joker added the number of times you play most used hand to multiplier. I played 34 double pairs. Plus I had the hiker as my second joker so every card had huge scores by the end.

Amazing that after almost 20
Hours I’m still learning what should feel like basics.

If you have a consumable tarot or spectral card in the top right area you can also use them during the shop by buying a tarot pack.

Yeah that's how I mostly use them

Just won with yellow. Got a Red card joker that boosted multiplier every time I skipped a booster. Just kept buying and skipping every round. Had 140x multiplier by the end and with a few that boosted values it proved surprisingly easy!

That’s 3 wins now :datass:

Balatro has not given me an inch all day, cant get anything going.

Tried the higher difficulty with red deck as I have a friend who has unlocked some of the higher difficulty achievements and it's annoying me that he's "beating" me :lol:

Failed by 5000 points at the final ante :simper:

Got very close earlier with the green deck. Had a deck containing 24 Queens mostly diamond with huge buffs to 3 of a kind and only playing 3 cards. Breezing it until the boss said “can only play each hand type once” after I’d used three of a kind and pair my options to get high scores dried up.

I also had my first win with the blue deck using this method! I only got that joker about halfway through the run so it was only up to, say +40 multiplayer but alongside my other jokers it gave me a good spread between flushes and straights that juuuuust scraped me through.

That was a weird run as it felt like I was going to lose every step of the way. I didn't really excel in anything but it meant that no boss could really cripple me.

Also I had a fuckload of money ($100) at the end so I just clicked endless mode and bought a load of undiscovered things from the shop (while constantly refreshing it) to help with my collection :slol:

oh gooseberry fool homes thats a good idea

trying to get $400 in a single run is becoming somewhat annoying, just had a real chance of doing it, had the right cards, was around $70 away....then the game decides to just screw me over and make it impossible. not playing ball at all at the moment.

Now up to 4 wins - red blue yellow and green. Black deck is proving very tough. At first glance a 6th joker seems amazing but the reduced hand count of 3 means it’s very tough to get going and bad draws are more devastating.

Can’t get a win - in fact, I haven’t got to Ante 8 yet! - despite sinking a lot of time into this. And I’m enjoying it, despite the frustration at not being able to progress.

I think I’ve got my head around how to stack the Jokers, but I’m definitely not getting my head round how to do the same thing with the cards, like the above posts.

Finally got $400 in a run, so that’s another joker unlocked. Only 3 left to unlock now.

i was just on a good run to unlock the joker for not playing a pair and winning - got the the final ante and misclicked and played a pair...

at least its a run complete on the crystal ball deck ;(

Anyone had any luck with the black deck? I’m finding it’s very hard to build momentum. If you do t get a good joker after the first round you really struggle.
