BANJO-KAZOOIE - A TRIBUTE

Image

For the latest GGGC task, some players have been making creative pieces in memory of that great bird and bear duo Banjo Kazooie. Anyone who isn't still in the contest and is a member on GRCade can VOTE for their three favourites in order out of the four 'offerings' below! Simply PM me before 8pm tommorrow! 3,2 and 1pts will be awarded with the top two going through to the next round!

Happy reading....and watching.

Lyrics
Banjo and Kazooie,
Born on the '64,
You had to collect all those notes,
To claim that highscore.

Saving Banjo's sister,
Was the name of the game,
But getting all the Jiggys,
the real claim to fame.

That wicked witch Grunty,
Kidnapped our sister,
She needed her to stop her face,
Looking like a giant blister.

Bottles and Mumbo,
came to help us on this epic quest,
Which ended with a giant quiz,
It surely was a test.

Grunty jumped on her broomstick,
And did her best to knock us out,
But we saved all the Jingos,
Which let us win the bout.

Now Nuts and Bolts,
Really is an amazing game,
I still will never understand,
Why people call it lame.

Grunty always was,
The real baron of rhymes,
But that never stopped our Banjo,
Beating her three times.

Oh... And for all of those people,
Who love Stop 'n' Swop,
For f***s sake... please...
Just let it drop!

Banjo-Kazooie – a series retrospective in poetic form.

Dream was its name when it first came to mind,
On Super Nintendo, not really the kind
Of game to compete with Nintendo’s best,
Main character Eddie, long way to go yet.

Wielding a sword and in trouble with pirates,
This isn’t sounding like one of our favourites.
A captain the baddie at this early stage,
Now drunk in the sequel, showing his age.

On new system new concepts were tried,
Rabbit sucks and Bear works, our hero arrived!
Mario in 3D was a sure fire classic,
That game plus brit humour means Bear plays fantastic!

First game was great with its simplistic style,
Simple moves, small levels with progress freestyle,
Players like to run through it at speed,
Leaderboard’s on xbox show just this said breed.

With success of the first we were sure for a second,
But Rare’s grand designs were good but less wizened.
Not quite the beast that was Kong 64,
The outing called Tooie was *whisper it* sometimes a bore.

More moves were piled on Bear and Bird,
And with them ideas occasionally absurd,
Shoot in first person was one such complaint,
While controlling the shaman did tend to irate.

Dark edged humour helped push you along,
Whilst the game was still, for the most part, strong,
But platformers were aging and Banjo was bettered,
By a foul mouthed squirrel at which we all sniggered.

And so it went the bear missed a generation,
Whilst ghoulies were grabbed and Rare sent invitation,
To work as they wanted on Microsoft’s console
But eight years it would take for Banjo’s revival.

Vehicles now made of all shapes and sizes,
No moves this time, it was about devices,
Far less of a platformer based around jumping,
And more sets of puzzles and races and timing.

Banjo had changed some felt for the better,
Instead of tradition you became a greaser,
Constructing a vehicle to beat any task,
Simplicity was back, people having a blast!

Where Banjo goes now is anyone’s guess,
Was his vehicular outing a sales mess?
People pine for classic platforming,
But maybe today that’s a little boring?

Wherever it goes the fans will follow,
Fun with bear and bird, that dynamic duo.
All we know is we’ve come far from that Dream,
Wonder if Eddie'd have built vehicles supreme?

Contender Number Three wrote:Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a few minutes
So give me two or three
I'll tell you how I saved my sister in Banjo-Kazooie

In west Spiral Mountain born and raised
Out in the fields was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
Playing my banjo and kickin' it old school
When an ugly old witch, who was up to no good
Started making trouble in this neighborhood
My sister, Tooty, got kidnapped and Bottles got scared
He said 'Quick, Banjo, save Tooty from Gruntilda's evil lair'

I picked up my bag and when I looked inside
There sat my pal, Kazooie, who then cried:
"You'll need me you useless bear"
I thought 'she's got a point' - 'off we goes to Grunty's lair'

We passed through the levels, maybe 9 or 8,
Collecting jiggys and notes to decide our fate
Finally facing Grunty and I'm ready to maim
When she challenges us to some sort of trivia game

We win the game and Tooty is free
We head back home for a party
We celebrate with friends and a barbecue
But Grunty's still alive so we form a mob and head to Hag HQ

A top of her tower we enter the final showdown
With help from the Jinjos Grunty is throwndown
We defeat the witch and trap her under a boulder
Shouldn't have messed with us. We sure told her.

*Banjo solo*

I'm not sure what my parents would be more horrified by walking in on: that, or porno.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."
