I rent but mine is fully converted so I work in it.

It's honestly quite nice, there's an archway and tiles and stuff.

Exactly what I was thinking  fortunately when I was a kid, our basement was filled. Before my parents moved in, all the houses being renovated on the street had their rubble dumped in our basement, rather than paying for a skip, so we were the only house without one. Great :|

I've never had a basement. Mum's house has an attic that's too dangerous to go into, if you go in there you're more than likely to fall through the floor and into a bedroom

My loft growing up had a "face" in the 6' mass of fibreglass water tank cladding that you could actually see from the hall landing. I first saw it when I was about four and it took a LOT of explaining to get me to go to bed that night

The basement in my first student halls was huge and really creepy. We went down there once and saw a load of chairs arranged in a semi-circle around a picture of Daniel Radcliffe that had BB holes in it. It got locked by management during the first term but I vaguely remember there being ghost tours when the upstairs floor held a Halloween party. I was a strawberry floating mess that night so things are hazy...

I sleep in a attic. It's lovely.

I'm in the basement on a semi-regular basis. It's dank, dark (even with the light on!) and full of spiders that'll have you if you're in there a second longer than you need to be. I swear I've seen WHITE!, spindly, almost-invisible-to-the-naked-eye spiders down there.

When i was a kid, the under the stairs cupboard was behind an old wooden door, it was completely dark in there, with endless cobwebs and massive spiders, and i never dared set foot in there as it was creepy as hell.

I’ve never lived anywhere with a basement but can’t imagine I’d think it creepy.

I used to love getting up into the attic when I was a kid. My parents used to just dump everything up there, so whenever I went up there I’d find old toys and tools and other cool stuff. Seeing by torchlight just made it more exciting and cobwebs never bothered me.

Last time I went up there it was literally caked in inches of dust but I did find some cool stuff like a colour enlarger (for photo developing). It was hell trying to clean the space for storage though.

I love a basement just for having it as a 'man cave'. As for attics they get too hot in the summer for me so are a pain not so worried about the creepy side on things in both places.

When I was a kid I used to love going into the under-stair cupboard with a torch and pretending it was an unexplored cave.

Have never lived in a house with a basement or proper attic though.
