Spiderman 2 is the better sequel.

I think they're about as good as each other. Solid 9/10s each.

All good points, and I agree that this all boils down to personal taste at the end.

I find Begins difficult to love precisely because it doesn't get anything wrong. It doesn't try anything brave enough to get wrong. It feels pedestrian and by the numbers, but solid and professional with it. It just doesn't do anything memorable or interesting enough to get wrong.

I love TDK because it's fascinating. Sure, it has flaws, but only because not every gamble it makes pays off. It's flaws are what makes it loveable, and its ambition is what makes it, in my opinion, the superior film.

I like Batman Begins because there's no particular low point in it and it was the best superhero film ever when it came out by so far it wasn't even funny.

I thought DK was a better movie, but a lot of it is so bloody depressing that I would be far less inclined to watch it again. Also, they managed to replace Katie Holmes with someone actually more annoying. Astonishing.

I felt nothing but joy when she died.

Oh and Batman has far more dialogue in TDK and it just sounds totally stupid.

They are both definitely films.

I know TDK has several plot holes (then again so does Begins) but I still think overall it's the better film.

Batman Begins is better.

The early section of the film where Bale meets Neeson and trains with him was absolutely superb. Some of Nolan's finest work, at least in a Batman film. I don't think it could have been executed any better. I loved Neeson’s character, how he became a hard-hearted father figure who took advantage of the sorrow, pain and anger that was contained within Bruce. It was Ra’s who told Bruce to face his fears and embrace the darkness and it was him who ultimately unleashed and created the Batman – the beast who stopped him from obliterating Gotham. Other elements of the film I enjoyed were Crane/Scarecrow and his fear inducing hallucinogen. I also found the Narrows very interesting; it had an intimidating personality which gave me Blade Runner vibes. The overall tone of the film was just more appealing. Batman Begins is also easier to re-watch, I almost feel exhausted whenever I watch TDK. Too much is going on, it isn’t paced as well as BB and it resulted in a messier film.

The argument is a staple of the film threads and will not be contained in here.

Both bats and subs use sonar. So where's the joke?
