I'm honestly hope we don't see much of this kid arc. Has there been any indication as to whether the show with take place after the shooting of Bruce's parents does anyone know?

Oh c'mon, you're being factious for factious sake (so am I a tad). As long as they keep Bruce to a minimum (let's face it, nothing happens for years to him) then there'll be no issues. I'm just concerned that the supposedly early script is so keen to tell the audience it's about Batman it loses sight of what the show should be about. The show isn't about Batman, it's about Gotham and its inhabitants.
