It's not very good as a game and stuttery but I enjoyed the story.

The post-episode chat show things were quite interesting, once I got used to the annoying presenter. Nice to see how other people reacted to the story, and what options they chose. And it worked well because the game's episodic, so there were no spoilers in the chats.

Well this got off to a great start :fp: Inserted the disc and... the strawberry floating console crashed  Though tbh, that could just be my console doing its semi-regular thing of acting up.

Thinking about these kinds of Telltale games I've played, every ounce of enjoyment I got from their gameplay was connected to the story. So when the story is building the gameplay is mostly tedious but then, when the exciting bits come along, the tediousness is thankfully diminished by the unfolding events. The actual gameplay mechanics (dragging cross-hairs into a particular space, etc), not counting dialogue choices, really are tedious af.

Just finished ep 1. What the hell was that sniper doing just laying there on the ground waiting to be discovered? :?

When that mayor's assistant smiled at Bruce I knew she was gonna be a victim.

The body count in this is crazy.

Selina just spent three or four dialogue lines convincing Bruce she's nothing but a thief. I agree with her and she's all You're just like everyone else *goes off in a huff* :slol:

Aaand done.

Mostly enjoyed it. Only real gripe was how much of a bastard they turned Bruce's dad into.

I wonder why they chose not to cover in more detail the relationship between Vicky Vale and the other foster child. (You see a photo of 'em together toward the end of the game.) I suspected the story would take an abuse angle after the boy said something along the lines of They're not good to me but they put a roof over my head to Batman. That and the ultra violent nature of the foster parents' deaths.

I liked this Telltale effort more than most because of the more 'game-like' aspects of it - doing the crime scene pairing and such.
After playing this and The Walking Dead: A New Frontier though, I have to say - they need, NEED to get that engine stable. For a genre so focused on storytelling, the horrifically janky engine breaks immersion so frequently.
OT, everyone needs to drop this 'Arkham' bollocks for Batman stories. Getting pretty stale now.

I liked the combat choices more than the crime scene thing. I know it only gave you two choice per attack, but it was still pretty fun considering how basic it was.

Biggest GTFO moment: recreating/enhancing location via reflection in Alfred's specs

Ooh do want this but will likely wait until all the episodes are together, which is my preferred way to play TellTale games. Waiting a month each time doesn't work with my lacking attention span alas

Yeah but Batman (last time at least) was 4-5 weeks and stuck to it.

Really kept momentum, while giving cliffhangers weight, and felt like comic series.

I still need to finish Tales from the Borderlands and wasn't that bothered by GotG e2 so if I do get this, I doubt it'll be before all the episodes have been released.

Well this was really good. It's still Telltale and it won't change your opinion if you don't like em.

Long enough, told its own story while a larger narrative and no tech issues (PS4)

Continues to do its own thing with Batman story/lore. Does something new for TT though were other than choices it also tells your relationship status with major players.

Left John Doe ecstatic.
Imam traumatised
Waller begrudgingly wary
Gordon Steadfast
Tiffany furious
Alfred vengful

Was basically kind/honest with everyone - even Doe.

Lucius :( Was supportive but honest with Tiffany - which ended badly

Alfred I tried to support - but think I made his PTSD worse.

Doe I was firm but fair. Tried to treat as normal character rather than knowing he's Joker. Agreed to meet his friends, but our tracker in him

Went with Mori (backing up Waller seemed bad and he felt less likely to help) and ended up taking data by force.

Backed Gordon over Waller but wasn't rude/aggressive to Waller

Ansewered Riddlers questions until I could escape - Aventa agreed with me and it kept people alive.

Liked the different take on the Riddler, but sad it's over. No idea where the story is going thoug

Episode 2 then (the one they included the picture of the body of murdered Russian diplomat that they've now patched out :P)

Continues to do it's own thing with familiar characters - adds an air of tension to proceeds when you've no idea how people will act, or if anyone is safe. Alfred is feeling utterly superfluous though.

I can't believe what they've done with Harley/John, but it works well.

Generally played Bruce as "ends, to and extent, justify the means".

Played nice, but not fawning, with Waller. We seem to have a good working relationship - with an element of we know we don't like each other. Called her men for Back Up (wasn't sending GCPD) against Bane!

Supported Gordon where I could - but didn't ask for his help with Waller, asking him to back off. He's worried about me. Awww

Playing as honest as I could with John. And pinky swore. Ended up beating the guy after he wouldn't leave me alone.

Harley I played respectful, while trying not to take any of her bullshit. The car scene (with/without John) was nicely done. Turned out I was being too nice and making John jealous - backed off and everyone happy. Don't think anyone bought my Fashion consultants line though

Tiffany - was as honest as possible. She doesn't seem to like me still, but responded well

Freeze - aromatically offered to help his wife. Got me a vote.

Bane - didn't beat the guy to death. Bane doesn't trust me for not going far enough. Slipped him the anti-venom

End section - followed Harley (less I could do to disrupt Bane I thought) - but still beat people unconcious rather than trusting them to stay down.

Well this goes from strength to strength!

No techie issues (PS4) - QTEs are sparse, but feel meaty. Choices seem to matter (or aren't so obviously dovetailed). It's telling an interesting Batman story as well - building and subverting your expectations.

There's about 7-8 different groups of people (who know different amounts Batman/Bruce/FakeBruce and my agenda) all trying to juggle.

Choices!

Thanked Timothy and later checked on him as he died.
Was straight and to the point at every chance.
Tried to stop Selina escaping, but could stop a little kiss. Told John she was ok
Told John to be himself, the best/good himself, during our "date". That was odd and tense.
Tried to defend Bruce to Gordon without going too far - but didn't work. Told him I couldn't ask him to break the law...but warned Selina still.
Didn't agree to go easy on Harley with John, but tried to support him and let him keep the selfie.
Didn't resist Gordon and then defended him
Told Tiffany everything - but told it was too dangerous to help
Was honest with Bane (to a point) - skirted round Harley, but wasn't letting Catwoman being thrown under the bus...

I don't know where it goes from here!

Tomorrow!

(That pretty much gives away how a cliffhanger, depending on choices, from last episode will be resolved)
