rudderless wrote:Even setting aside the technical issues, this is one of the weakest Telltale openers to date. The bit where the old lady decides to describe Bruce's parents' death to him in detail is honkingly awful, Alfred is deeply annoying, and it's full of clunky exposition and on-the-nose dialogue (and the performances are hit and miss, too). Once it finally stops labouring the origin story stuff, it gets more interesting, but so far it hasn't had much new to say for itself.

I decided to punt a fiver and get the first episode, so far I'm enjoying it.

I did find that really strange as well? I wanted to tell the old fart to mind her own business, but Wayne was supposed to be getting supporters on side for Dent, so I kept my mouth shut.

Most of the reviews I've seen say in the first episode there isn't enough Batman and it's mostly about Bruce Wayne. Like you said, I think once the origin bit is done and dusted, this should start going full steam ahead.

Is it the full game on the disc?

I saw this being advertised on TV and confused the hell out me. So are we expecting the full game by the end of the year?

Probably just the first episode on the disc and a code for the season pass.

I doubt they'll get the remaining four out by the end of this year.

Surprised no-one else has mentioned the second episode yet.

Just finished it and thought it was another solid one. Story moving along at a decent pace, plenty of stuff happening and a good balance of Wayne/Batman stuff.
My only gripe is that in the 100 minutes or so it took me to play through, it crashed four times (PS4). Once just as a really climactic moment happened, robbing it of all momentum as I had to replay the minute or two before it all over again.

As for choices I...

Eased Falcones pain.
Tried to kiss Selina.
Visited the Mayor as Batman.
Continued to support Harvey.
Saved Selina.

I really like what they're doing with Penguin and it's going to be interesting to see where this Children of Arkham plot goes. I just hope they resist the urge to cram Joker in.

I'm downloading them as and when, so I can play them all at once eventually. Glad to hear that episode 2 is better.

Really liked episode 2 - shame it's not more popular.

It's still doing the thing of mixing lots of Batman lore (and therefore depending slightly on some of players pre-knowledge) but blending it together to be their own thing. Quite an interesting (and different) story underneath.

This is a bit shorter than the last, but moves things along. I didn't have quite so many technically issues/stuttering. (There was one bit with Bats walking on a roof top that looked odd). The back to back fight scene flowed magnificently for the QTE though.

Didn't like the fact to see the other side of the choice of Batman/Bruce scene it looks like you need to replay the entire episode - a chapter select etc would be nice.

Only had one "Telltale" moment when the dialogue didn't match the prompt. "I'm sorry but I can't talk about it" becomes "Ha, you've got nothing to go on"

Choices

Generally played Bruce as pragmatic, but kind. Didn't go for angry/emotional outburst etc)

Helped Falcone with his pain - generally was firm questioning, but open minded

Was firm, but not aggressive with Penguin.

Visited as Batman - going as Bruce seemed to reveal too much, and Vale had warned me Bruce was being seen at lots of events

Was friendly and continued to support Harvey

Chose Harvey - He was in trouble and I trusted Selina to be able to look after herself (Feminism yeah!...She got shot in the shoulder :D)

I really hope mystery villain isn't the Joker. Everyone with their own Batman-verse wants to tackle him, but it's a well played card...

I saved Selina and it ended with Harvey becoming Two Face.

Did the same thing happen with you even though you made the opposite choice?

I agree though, on the whole that episode flowed much better. It was only an hour long but it didn't feel padded at all and everything had me wanting more. At the start of the episode I wasn't too sure about the spin they're putting on the Waynes but by the end it's absolutely refreshing and I can't wait to see where this story goes.

I'm expecting the secret villain to be Scarecrow. At the very least, Crane is surely going to play a part. He absolutely must have been the third person in the CCTV footage shown at the debate. This drug that is going round must be some version of his fear toxin.

Nope

He gets a bad black eye and there's talk in a hospital scene of "some scars" - but it's not clear what the effect of the drug is. It's no where near the other side though [watched on youtube now] with half his face burnt off

Selina ends up wounded and running in an ally rather than waiting in Wayne Manor for you..

The twist is.... well... unexpected.

One thing that annoys me is that this episode seems to change my choice from previous episode.

I got a warning from Alfred that the police will be furious if they found out that I did too off to Vicki Vale that Montyana shot Falcone. I didn't say anything who or anything to Vale about that.

Well that was really good - properly telling it's own story and really twists expectations.

Some horrid performance issues on PS4 again, but this might be edging out TWAU as my favourite Telltale

Help Montoya, she seemed in the most danger and Harvey was on the way to police safety
Punched Oswald. I'd played along until then, but screw you
Kept Lucius in WayneTower
Stay Platonic with Selina - wasn't screwing over a chum
Didn't steal claw, took back grapple
Tried to talk harvy Down
Played along with what's best for the company but also tried to warn about the Children of Arkham
