Apparently it’s Halo’s fault that people realised BF 2042 was so shoddy.

‘Following the game's launch and the rollout of the Day 1 patch, "the game was stable" and "the early critical reception was good".

However, Battlefield was then affected by the launch of Halo Infinite, Miele said, as unfavourable comparisons were made between the Xbox shooter and Battlefield 2042, with Halo perceived as a much more polished title.’

Utter garbage. It’s why they have spent so much time trying to fix it while largely they have abandoned the game and not released any new content.

Blame anything but ourselves for a well below par release.

I didn't think to compare it to Halo as they're completely different.
I was comparing it to other games in the Battlefield series and mostly BF4 and 2042 just isn't a good Battlefield game.

I gave it what I felt was a fair go but not being able to even get the game to load for the first 4 days was just the start of what turned out to be the most disappointing gaming experience I've ever had.
The game is close to being amazing but has so many infuriating design decisions and bugs it just wore me down and I wasn't enjoying playing.

I really don't like being horrible about a franchise I've put so many hours into but it's just a shell now and I can still go back and play the glory that is BF4.

I love Battlefield also, pinnacle for me was Battlefield 1, stunning game. Halo Infinite being in Beta, working perfectly and free has to have some effect on BF’s launch but it’s mostly on themselves.

I really feel they would have better sales by just remastering the series from BF4 onwards.
I'd buy them and I'm sure many others would as well.
BF1 on PS5 or XSX could look amazing as it already looked great anyway.

BATTLEFIELD 2042 UPDATE #4.0

No-Pats,

Update #4.0 will be available on April 19. This update brings VoIP functionality for Party and Squads, a change to End of Round that displays the Scoreboard, as well as an overhaul of weapon attachments. It also includes many further changes and bug fixes detailed in full below, such as:

Balance adjustments to Specialists such as updated Traits for Rao and Paik, and improvements to Sundance’s Specialty, with a focus on their Anti-Armor Grenades being more effective against targets in their immediate vicinity

Vehicle balance changes such as making the M5C Bolte’s passengers easier to target, and a reduction in power for its Missile Launcher

Fixes for being unable to ADS after exiting a vehicle, or being unable to revive players near objects

Improved Ribbons and XP Events to make them easier to unlock across modes

We’d like to thank you for your patience while we’ve worked to get this update into your hands, and we’re looking forward to your continued feedback once you’ve been able to hop in and play.

Our next update following this one is presently scheduled to release in May, and is focused on bringing further quality of life updates and bug fixes. We’ll have more to tell you about the contents of that update closer to its release.

The player count is in the toilet.
The game is pretty much dead.

It's amazing seeing a company mess up such a well-loved franchise and it will have to be the most amazing comeback ever for this game to be seen as anything but an absolute failure.

It showed such promise from those early previews we got as well. But unlike Battlefront 2, I highly doubt this one is getting turned into a success story.

Season 1 starts in June.
Breakthrough will only be 64 players now, Conquest will continue up to 128 players.
They're winding down future development on Hazard Zone, will still have bug fixes but future maps will not support it.

Looks promising, quite excited for this.

I'm still playing quite regularly, mainly infantry, so these map changes should improve things. Especially Kaleidoscope, probably my second least favourite map (strawberry float Hourglass).

Season 1 being revealed at 4pm on Tuesday -

Get ready for the first season of Battlefield 2042. Catch the Season 1: Zero Hour gameplay trailer on June 7th for a first look

On Tuesday, June 7, Update 1.0.0 becomes available for play.

What’s new?

This Update includes hundreds of changes, bug fixes and Quality of Life improvements in preparation for the release of Season 1. Here are some of the highlights that you can expect in this Update:

Multiple improvements to soldier gameplay which will result in overall smoother animations and movement.
Weapons received updated netcode to improve bullet hit registration. We’ve also done a further balance pass which includes increased projectile speeds for DMR’s and LMG’s, and improved accuracy for Shotguns.
Multiple new XP events have been added, such as for killing an enemy who recently wounded or killed a squadmate, or when an enemy vehicle you recently damaged is destroyed by a teammate and the occupants are killed
The number of available in-world vehicles has been increased for Conquest which should make it easier to move across the map
Sundance’s Wingsuit has been adjusted to lower overall flight time, while making it easier to maneuver. To simplify their Specialty, the EMP Field Smart Explosive has been removed

Meh. No where near enough content, scripting and editing looks decent. I just don’t trust them over how badly they burned the buyers. Not enough for me to come back.

New map looks promising. Hopefully they've used the recent player feedback and made sure it's got decent cover and doesn't force you to traverse wide open spaces to get between control points like most of the release maps.
