Responding to Grubb's claims in a statement provided to Eurogamer, EA called the report "untrue", insisting, "There is a significant team at DICE, alongside our other studios, focused on evolving and improving the Battlefield 2042 experience for all players."

Oof, that’s awful if this is the route they go, feel sorry for all those who picked this up at launch especially the higher priced editions

I got my moneys worth tbh. 100+ hours of fun play.

Maybe with the next one they won't keep telling fans of the series that they are wrong about things like the class system, and refusing to change it because it is how you plan on doing your cash gr...monetisation.

I really do think with how bad this has been, that if this barely improves it after the time they’ve had, it’s good night for Dice and battlefield.

The new map is excellent. Obviously it's still quite novel but I think it's already the best map in the game. The verticality means you can usually just drop down to a lower point if there's nothing going on where you're currently at. And even in the open areas there's usually some cover nearby unlike most of the other maps.

The new specialist is also good fun. It's great having a rocket launcher with regenerating ammo, as usually I'm always searching for ammo if running a rocket launcher since it takes so many shots to take out a tank. It's actually fairly challenging to guide the TV missile into a chopper, but very satisfying to land a hit.

I know it's not a lot of new content, and I've not unlocked the new guns yet, but so far I'm really enjoying it. I'm alright with this amount each season if it's of decent quality tbh.

I was a huge Battlefield fan but this whole situation has pretty much killed the franchise for me.

2042 has been a complete shitshow from start to finish and even if they somehow make the next game strawberry floating amazing I'm going to at most rent it from boomerang.
I honestly can't see a way back for them from here.

Unfortunately, nobody cares any more about this game.
We all know they have a skeleton crew running this now and all the best people have been migrated to the next game in the series.

I really feel like the only option they have now is to remake Battlefield 4 as any new game will just be lumbered with reputation of 2042.
This series has gone from being an automatic purchase for me to a wait and see and they really didn't need to do much to keep me but they somehow managed to lose me as a customer by trying to re-invent the wheel with 2042.

I’ve been playing it lots in the last few weeks. It’s really good now and works. I’m up to 120 hours. But they don’t listen. At the weekends they run ‘special’ rush game modes that everyone loves and then they stop in the week for the normal modes. So weird.

I don’t see anyone buying this next time around.

Play your cards right in Battlefield™ 2042 – Season 2: Master of Arms, launching August 30, 2022. Head to a drained Panamanian lake and the new map Stranded where you’ll reap the benefits of the Dark Market. Deploy as new Specialist Charlie Crawford and use his minigun and teamwork skills as supporting your squad is more crucial than ever.

PostRe: Battlefield 2042 (XB/PS/PC) - Season 2: Master of Arms launching today. Classes returning in Season 3.

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE, NOVEMBER 2022

This is how things are shaping up ahead of the start of Season 3

Hey Folks -

As we head into the end of Season 2: Master of Arms, we want to get you up to speed with where we’re at with Season 3, our work on the Specialist and Classes Revamp, which weapons are next to join the 2042 arsenal, map reworks, and exciting news about life for Battlefield 2042 beyond Season 4.

Here’s Alexia Christofi from the Battlefield 2042 Development team to tell you more:

To recap our Development Update video, we’re drawing ever closer to the start of Season 3, which is set to bring with it a new Specialist, a brand new map alongside reworks for both Manifest and Breakaway, and all new hardware to add to your armory. Season 3 will also see the return of classes to Battlefield 2042, but that’s not all.

We’re also excited to share that we’ve recently started pre-production on all new content that will come after Season 4, next year. Our work on Battlefield 2042 isn’t done.

We’re proud of the work that we’ve done over the past 12 months and so if you haven’t jumped in yet, starting in Season 3 we’ll be introducing Battlefield 2042 into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and making the game available for subscribers with EA Access. While in December, we’ll also have free access periods across all platforms*. Experience the evolution and improvements we’ve brought to the game for yourself, and we look forward to welcoming you onto the Battlefield.

Nearly free to play. Savage. This and halo really made a mess of online FPS. Battlefield is good, and was great up until CoD. But it’s all cod for me from here. It’s fun with a team and it works.

Gameplay wise I just prefer battlefield, B1 is one of the finest online FPS games of all time.

Halo’s movement and gunplay is incredible, Halo’s launch wasn’t strawberry floated up like 2042, it just had no content…

Just my view but halo had basic working mp. But it didn’t have much depth. No co-op, no forge et amd not much content. battlefield was a mess on anything other than high end PCs. But the core game was brilliant as ever. It did suffer from lack of support.

There was a real opportunity to take down CoD and they bombed hard. I think I played halo for couple of hours (battle pass was garbage) and I’ve put 170 hours in 2042. 50 or so in the time since CoD has coke out.

I won’t be buying battlefield for £60 again next year. It’s the same launch each year.

I've bought every Battlefied game at launch since 1 and I got into Battlefield 4 early on.
There's zero chance of me picking up the next game at launch which I never thought I'd say as I love the series overall.

Even if it has reviews in the 90's across the board I'm certain the game will be a buggy mess for the first 6 months.
At best I'll rent it from Boomerang if I'm still a customer with them by then.

Season 3 starts 22nd Nov.

Call the shots with Season 3: Escalation. Come face to face with the enemy in the northern Swedish wilderness and dominate ground warfare with new technological weaponry, the EMKV90-TOR railgun tank, and Vault weapons. Deploy as new Specialist Zain and flush out enemies with his XM370A airburst launcher.

Thank strawberry float classes are coming back. I wonder if they are going to start listening to the community that play the strawberry floating game instead of telling us all we don't understand.
