Battlefield 3 out 28th October 2011 available on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360

The long awaited sequel from Dice comes out in October. It features for the first time a separate single player campaign, as well as all the usual multiplayer goodness fans of the series know and love.
Oh and it looks amazing too!

In before Winckle.

It'll be interesting to see whether the console version is a "proper" Battlefield game, or just a Modern Combat-style game. I'll be all over whatever version, regardless.

I couldn't give a gooseberry fool about BF3 any more. Dice have proved time and time again they can't make good games any more.

Can't believe how bad the MoH beta is, gave it a go earlier.

Would love to be in the Battlfield 3 beta, but I can't see theres any way I'd get MoH if it doesn't drastically improve from the state its in now.

There'll be codes flying all over the shop by the time the beta is released anyway. I'll pass.

Aye right enough, I guess you could consider last gen PC to be 'current' by console standards.

I tend to find HSH's opinions a little different to mine, but I totally agree with his love for BF. I'm looking forward to 3. BF1942 still remainds probably my favourite game ever, especially with the FH mods.

I owned 8-)

I never used to play BF2, but I did used to read the thread in C&OG on the old forums quite often. That looked fun.

Do any versions have that awesome zoomy thing where you can change to another person in fps mode? I liked being able to get my people in exactly the right spot for am ambush and then headless chicken someone to act as bait.

Should point out 1 of the 3 'best games of the generation' I was talking about is Mirror's Edge.

Don't care what anyone else thinks, that game is amazing.

It's far, far too short.

I personally think the length of the game was spot on. I think if it went on longer it would have felt drawn out. Also, I thought Mirror's Edge was awesome.

The concept was superb, the story was pointless, and none of the characters were likable.

Not sure about pointless, I'd agree it didn't add much to the game, but then I'd say that about just about every game I've ever liked.

The thing you are missing is that it was interesting and unique to play as well as being a whole lot of fun (well apart from a couple of parts if you were going for certain achievements).

Interesting, unique and fun. If its got those three thing the rest doesn't really matter.

The franchise that revolutionized online multiplayer for PC games is back.

In our world-exclusive cover story, Game Informer unveils the first numbered entry in the Battlefield series since 2005. Many longtime fans are wondering, "what took so long?!" DICE has honed the concept for the true sequel for years, but it wasn't until the company developed the powerful new Frostbite 2 engine that it felt all the pieces were in place to create a proper follow-up. Armed with powerful upgrades like deferred rendering, real-time radiosity, a new animation system borrowed from the EA Sports label, and an exponential leap in destructibility, executive producer Patrick Bach dubs Frostbite 2 "the best piece of technology on the market when it comes to building games."

You'll have to read the magazine to get the dirt on what DICE has in store for the single-player and multiplayer modes, but check back here and visit the official Battlefield 3 site tomorrow to watch the premiere teaser trailer and glean a few more key details.

Frequent the Battlefield 3 hub throughout the month of February for more exclusive features about the highly anticipated shooter coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC.
