I really dislike this type of trailer, you have to find the exact split second where you can see a stable image.

No doubt they'll have a stage demo at E3, no doubt it'll be single player which they may as well drop at this stage.

There are a lot of heroic, tragic tales from WW1 that they could relate in the singleplayer campaign. If anything, this installment has some of the best scope for a quality campaign in the series to date.

I was at the launch event Friday (EA embargoed us until 15 mins AFTER the trailer went live

Oh how that loud contemporary music contrasts badly with the authentic setting, hopefully it's trailer only! I know many have been waiting for an old school FPS. The trailer looks exciting and actually seems to show a variety of combat situations and weapons, but a lot of that was pre-rendered video so not clear what is scene setting. If that's translated to gameplay like airplane gunner, dogfighting, tank battles and horse-riding and it has that sense of being in battle then I can definitely see how it will be a big pull.

I refuse to trust them until after launch. Battlefield 4 was a joke for about 6 months after launch.

Hopefully they've learnt from that though.

Well they have going by Battlefront's launch.

umm because it's set in WW1, so it's the first battlefield in terms of the era. I mean it would have made more sense to have just called it battlefield or battlefield WW1 or even just battlefield 5. It's not really a big deal tho, I don't get my people make get angry about it. They do it with movies all the time.

Nah it's a properly weird looking title, everything immediately looks odd without something additional before or after the 1.

It was the where modern warfare really began, marking the first time that warfare became fully industrialized.

It may also be a bit of a reset button for the series, with future titles running through the notable wars of the 20th century, roughly in order.

Because the game is being co-promoted by Microsoft and the 1 reminds gamers that the product, like Xbox 1, is a guarantee of exemplary quality.

I reckon its called 1 cos of the War its referring to, sure its being promoted by MS but it just mentions EA access so far.

Wasn't the first battlefield: battlefield 1942?

Which focused on the second world war. Then Battlefield 2.

The name makes sense from a time line perspective.

Just doesn't make sense to me. It should be called Battlefield 5, or Battlefield: The Great War or something like that, not Battlefield 1.

The reasoning is that it is the first modern war. EA and DICE representatives on Facebook confirmed this when the game was announced.

I'd have been happy with Battlefield 1914, or just plain Battlefield. The 1 just looks stupid.

It's a lot less stupid than some game titles out there. I'm looking at you, Square-Enix.

It's a snappy little twist on the increasingly farcical numbering system of game sequels. Calm the strawberry float down.
