Hopefully the pricing will be decent, but I'm definitely wanting 1 and 2 digitally to play whenever I want.

Because it's annoying and a hassle. Storage space is finite and if you're getting lots of third party games you're going to need kept buying bigger storage or deleting and reinstalling games.

I'd say having to worry about a cart is annoying and a hassle.

Storage space is an issue no matter what.

Cart goes into my case and I put it in the Switch when I want to play it. No hassle at all. Plus you can sell a cart down the line if you want to. Whether those benefits are important to you or not, for some people they mean they prefer to buy carts.

Bayonetta 1

- takes up “less than 16GB of space”
- the Wii U version was 17.6GB

Bayonetta 2

- 12.4GB
- the Wii U version was 14.6GB

The Switch file sizes are sourced from Amazon Japan.

But... how can the sizes be smaller than on the Wii U? I'm a little worried that these are going to be bare-bones ports... but surely for the cost they will have been highly polished?

Better compression technique maybe?

Yeah, that could be it, Mafro... I just hope that they aren't squeezing these titles down a bit too much. There are rumours (well, concerns in ResetEra) that the resolution / frame rates may not be better than the U versions. Only speculation, of course, but I would like to see some footage before the games launch.

Playing through Bayonetta 2.

Enjoying it, but I'm up to Chapter XII and so far it seems a little easy. Is there still plenty to go or is it just easier than the first?

Also it keeps telling me about the Tag Climax mode which I understand is some multiplayer thing? I hope there's some kind of challenge/gauntlet mode afterwards as I love the fighting but would be unkeen on going through the game proper again just for it, having to skip all the (many, slightly tedious) story cutscenes and chapter breaks en route.

P.S. Some of the actual action in the cutscenes is awesome though, and it's been years since I've cared about action choreography in a cutscene.

It is slightly easier yes but I can't remember what you unlock after other than a hard mode. Bayo games you continue with all your moves and items, that's why there are some ridiculously expensive items in Rodin's shop as you are anticipated to replay and get better scores and more coins.

If you want more challenge definitely don't use the auto witch time item.

Some of the challenges in the portal things are ridiculously hard, I would recommend trying to find and complete those before moving forwards to lengthen the game out.

Tag climax mode is indeed a sort of gauntlet mode replaying various scenarios you unlock, and I think it's harder for 2 people.

I really need to play 2. I have them both on Wii U but never got round to the sequel despite really liking the first game.

These games are incredible. Nearing the end of 2 now on normal and it's making me itch for devil may cry 3 though I'm sure that's all rose tinted specs.

I played both back to back after barely starting on 360 and it was glorious.

Just finished 2. Loads of replay value in these so glad I got the digital versions to go! Amazing games.

Playing Bayonetta 1 and I'm trying so hard to like it. The fighting is good but I feel like I'm better off mashing buttons, any time I try to do anything flashy I just end up getting hit a lot. While I've been mildly amused by a few cutscenes so far, there are so strawberry floating many of them I've had to take to skipping them as they get in the way of the actual game way too much. I reckon so far it's been about 50-50 cutscenes and gameplay which is totally unacceptable to me. And the game is just so obtuse.

I've ignored this series up to now because it just doesn't look like my cup of tea, but I can't ignore how good everyone says it is so wanted to try it out. I really hope I can get into it but it's feeling too much like a chore.

That sucks. All I can think to say about getting hit is dodging into witch time is how you do most of your damage in these games.

For smurphy I would say the opposite to before, get the ability that automatically activates witch time from Rodin before you are hit so you can take a breather and rack up some satisfying combos and punishments. There is also a move that splits bayo up into butterflies or bats if you double jump during which you can't take damage to land more aerial moves. Regardless of how this sounds it doesn't make the game super easy.

I still haven't finished original, I'm hoping it gets X1X enhanced as I think the back compat version is still the best one in terms of resolution and frame rate.

On X1X yes, understandably. Apart from X1X and PC the Switch version is the definitive version compared to every other console including the OG Bone/s I think. Also added benifit of playing it anywhere and, you know, sequels.

5 chapters into B2 and feel that I know what I'm doing for the first time. Ranks bumping up to consistent Silver standard. However, most of that comes down to just dodging into Witch Time better.

I have no idea if certain combos are more effective against certain enemies - there's seemingly no way to properly tell beyond monitoring damage metres?

Also, why is this stuff in the shop available to me when I can't possibly afford it? :fp:
