No HD coverage of new BBC1 shows then? Very strange.

They already have a BBC1 HD, this is saying that their other HD channel, BBC HD is going to be replaced by a BBC2 HD. It's almost BBC2 HD anyway the schedule of BBC2 and BBC HD are about 75% the same.

I'd much rather they increased the license fee tbh, I love the Beeb.

I've always maintained that you should only criticise the BBC's output if your household pays the licence fee, but I wonder how much of that £123M on licence fee collection costs was spent on threatening letters going to people who have already paid, or some other bureaucratic nonsense.

The BBC is far, far bigger than it needs to be. In a world of evolving choice the BBC is a dinosaur.

And yet, as far as terrestrial programming goes, it's by far the best. Commercial television is a vast wasteland.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Why not 100%? :? Well, it's still progress of a kind I suppose.

Local radio sports coverage is one of their best services. Mess with it at your peril.

If those numbers are correct then £26m on CBeebies is very, very good business. And BBC4 should definitely be kept. Radio 3 takes an awful lot of money to run though, but as I'm not a listener then that might affect my idea of value.

All in all, the beeb does a fantastic job. Maybe they should be considering generating income from their digital services (website, iplayer etc)?

Cbeebies is great - there are some amazing shows on there that I would have lapped up as a kid. The intro to In the Night Garden actually makes me feel really nostalgic for my childhood and the TV I would have watched back then.

And they've just started with the Adventures of Abney and Teal by the same folk which is so charming.

I watch these with my son, obviously :shifty:
